Notes from the Winemaker:

Characterized by a silken texture the wine offers up salivating déjà vu aromatics of first pick summer cherries and Granny’s rhubarb cobbler.  Underlying the immediate rush of primary fruit one encounters a second more thoughtful mélange of flavors hinting of  brambly wild berries, the grip of fine Assam tea and sandalwood incense.  Drinkable now, the wine should reach a plateau of maximum enjoyment in one year and hold through 2015.

Vintage Details:

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir. Cases: 1221 cases produced. Barrel aged 17 months 100% French oak (41% new).

"Made from grapes grown on the old Hoffman Mountain Ranch, this very deep and impressively fruited Pinot reminds that all parts of the Paso Robles appellation are not as warm as conventional wisdom would have us believe. Very long on optimally ripened, black-cherry fruit and decked out with lots of sweet oak, this wine is unwavering in its keen varietal focus and, after a bit of bluster to start, surprises by being both big and well-balanced. It is not a delicate wine that wants drinking with ahi or salmon, but it will serve famously alongside the likes of lamb and richly seasoned roast pork."Reviewed: February 2011
