Notes from the Winemaker:
Agricole Vallone was founded in 1934 and is run today by Vittoria and Maria Teresa Vallone, who work with agronomist Donato Lazzari and consulting enologist Graziana Grassini. The following three estates cover a total of 600 hectares: The Flaminio estate in the Brindisi area, the Iore estate in the area of San Pancrazio Salentino and Castelserranova in the Carovigno area. Agricole Vallone has two different winemaking facilites: the Flaminio estate which houses the cellar near Brindisi where all of the wines are actually made, and the Copertino cellar in Lecce where the wines are aged in stainless steel, large oak botti, and small French oak barrels.
Vereto is a blend of rigorously selected negroamaro grapes with a touch of malvasia nera to add complexity and elegance. Aged in Slovenian oak barrels for 8 months, it is a true expression of the terroir. The Tenuta Iore in San Pancrazio Salentino, is in the heart of the Salice Salentino DOC growing area.

What Does It Taste Like?
This is a hearty full-bodied ruby-red wine with a pronounced and complex
nose. It is dry, lightly tannic and full of herbal character which is
also reflected through the finish.
Ratings Reviews
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:"The 2006 Salice Salentino Riserva Vereto is a beautifully plump, juicy red. Sweet herbs, flowers, licorice and wild cherries come together in this generous, mid-weight Salice Salentino. The finish is long, delicate and nicely crafted. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014." -Antonio Galloni (8/2010)
91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ('03 vintage):"The 2003 Salice Salentino Vereto (90% Negroamaro, 10% Malvasia Nera) is absolutely beautiful. It presents an exotic profile of sweet herbs, tobacco and candied cherries with darker sensations than the Vigna Flaminio. It, too, is made in a weightless, refined style but it has an additional level of density and expansiveness that is irresistible. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2013.
Agricole Vallone is a collection of three smaller properties which total 170 hectares under vine. The estate makes a number of wines, the best of which happen to be its more modestly priced bottlings." -Antonio Galloni
