Notes from the Winemaker:Viticultural Practices: this wine is made from certified organic grapes from vineyards that are farmed according to biodynamic methods of viticulture (Demeter certification).
Grape variety: 100% Schiava (Schiava piccola and Schiava grigia).
Suggested foods: starters, pasta, grilled or fried seafood, veal, barbeque.
Origin: Römigberg estate vineyard on Lake Caldaro at an altitude of 250 to 330 metres (820 – 1,000 feet). Soil is sandy and loamy. Very warm mesoclimate.
Age of vines: 20 – 45 years.
Harvested: 10 September 2009.
Yield: 40 hl / ha.
Vinification: fermentation and maceration for 14 days in stainless steel tanks, followed by maturation for 3 months in large casks (Slavonian oak).
Alcohol: 12.5 % by vol.
Acidity: 4.8 g / litre.
Bottled: April 2010.
Production: 20,000 bottles.
Release: June 2010.
What Does It Taste Like?
Description: brilliant ruby color with purple tints. Quite pronounced,
very fruity aroma with impressions of red fruit, cherries and violets.
Medium-bodied, quite mild and soft though dry. Fresh and slightly spicy
aftertaste with an elegant bitter note of bitter almonds.
