Ratings & Reviews
89 Points & "Smart Buy" - Wine Spectator Magazine (2009 vintage):
"A core of cherry and plum gives way to tar, mineral and hoisin sauce notes in this dense red. This shows solid tannins, but remains graceful through the spicy finish. Drink now through 2018. 2,000 cases imported." –TM (Aug 31, 2011)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2009 vintage):"The entry-level 2009 Fincas Resalso is 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) from some of the younger vines on the estate. The wine was aged 4 months in French oak. Aromas of cedar, mineral, spice box, violets, and black fruits inform the nose of this forward, supple, succulent effort from the great 2009 vintage. This juicy, uncomplicated effort which finishes with no hard edges, is an excellent value meant for drinking over the next 5 years." - Jay Miller (June 2011)
90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2008 vintage):"The 2008 Finca Resalso was made from the estate’s younger Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vines and aged in French oak for 4 months. Dark ruby-colored, it exhibits a nicely perfumed nose of violets, spice box, leather, and black cherry. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with plenty of savory fruit, an easy-going personality, and excellent depth. This lengthy effort actually has 2-3 years of aging potential but can be enjoyed now. It over-delivers in a big way." - Jay Miller (June 2010)
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2008 vintage):"Inky ruby. Smoky dark berries and cherry on the nose, with complicating notes of licorice and black tea. Lively red fruits come up with air and carry onto the palate, which feature notes of raspberry, blackberry and tarragon. Leaves a trail of spicy red and dark fruit qualities behind the nervy finish. This drinks very well now." - Josh Raynolds (Nov/Dec '10)
Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2008 vintage):"A recommended entry-level Ribera, with aromas of violets, minerals and oak. The palate has a standard, competent feel and balance along with flavors of gangly berry fruit and black cherry. Mocha and vanilla help sweeten and soften up the finish, but overall it’s a regular, fresh type of wine." — M.S. (8/1/2010)
