About This Wine:
The rapid ascent of this new, small, family-run winery, consisting of Cascina Bompe vineyard in Alba and La Brunella in Barolo’s Castiglione Falletto, is in part due to their consultant, noted enologist Beppe Caviola, Gambero Rosso’s “Winemaker of the Year” in 2002. Achille Boroli handles all of the winery’s daily operations.
Cascina Bompe, 3 miles from Alba, at approximately 1,270 feet above sea level, is on top of a hill called Madonna di Como that has been historically documented as a centuries-old wine-growing site. La Brunella has a separate, newly completed winery beautifully designed by one of the Boroli sons, Guido. This estate includes two of Italy’s most prestigious Barolo vineyards: Villero and Cerequio Crus. A new cellar features an arresting design element: the external walls above ground are clad in oak staves from barriques previously used in Barolo production.

Ratings & Reviews
92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:"The 2005 Barolo is gorgeous in its perfumed red berries, flowers and
spices. This accessible, mid-weight Barolo offers tons of elegance in a
delicate, accessible style. The tannins could use a touch more polish,
but bottle age should help. The overall balance here is commendable at
this stage. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.
This year I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted from Boroli.
Achille Boroli, whose family came to winemaking after successful
endeavors in the textile and publishing businesses, runs this young
property that already counts parcels in some of Piedmont’s finest
vineyards among its holdings. Today the wines show more elegance and
clarity than in the past, as the estate has found better balance in its
vineyards, increased maceration times and introduced large, neutral oak
casks, all of which are allowing the vineyard characteristics to speak
with great eloquence. Boroli is clearly on the rise, and from here the
only direction to go is up." -Antonio Galloni (10/2009)

"Very aromatic, with rose, tar and dark ripe fruits. Full-bodied, with big, round and chewy tannins and lovely sweet fruit. Long and delicious, with excellent depth. Best after 2011. 2,080 cases made." –JS (9/30/2009)

Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"'Bargain Barolo'. The nose of this New World Barolo offers a perfect balance of chocolate and bright red berry fruit. It tastes soft and plush in the mouth and although there’s less density here than some of the more thickly extracted Barolos, it most definitely holds its own. Drink 2015–2025." - M.L. (4/1/2009)
