About This Wine:

Ruby red-violet. A striking aroma, quite redolent of ripe cherries and red berries. It is deep, full and harmonious in the mouth, with a long finish that maintains lasting taste and finishes with almond. Excellent, balanced, fragrant; optimal drinkability.

A land that speaks. This is the message that spurred on this project, which lead to the design of the label.

The letters of the name on this wine represent the numerous plots of land purchased by the family to re-establish the heritage, of the great enological value, which Montebruna possesses. Each letter also reminiscent of rows of vines designed, calligraphically, from words of poems, stemming from the emotions aroused in the poets who wrote them.

In this way, by using a natural process of identification between the vineyard and the verses written, a voice has been given to a land, which has plenty to tell and given shape to its wine, which already has plenty to say.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Barbera d’Asti Monte Bruna is a gorgeous, radiant wine laced with expressive fruit, grilled herbs and minerals. It is a bit reserved next to the estate’s other 2009s, yet shows plenty of energy and fleshiness. The finish is beautiful and totally open. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.

91 Points & "Smart Buys" - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A structured and tightly knit red, this features black currant, blackberry and spice aromas and flavors, plus more tannins than typical of this varietal. Fine length adds refinement and dimension. Best from 2013 through 2018."—B.S. (Dec 31, 2011)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2008 vintage):
“The 2008 Barbera d’Asti Monte Bruna is a highly representative example of Barbera from Asti. Even better, it won’t break the bank. Sweet wild cherries, minerals, mint and spices flow from this beautifully delineated, vibrant wine. As always, this is a somewhat hearty, rustic style of Barbera best enjoyed at the dinner table. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.

These are some of the most exciting wines I have tasted from Braida in a long time. In particular, the 2008 Barbere are exceptional. It’s hard to tell how much of that is attributable to the vintage itself versus winemaking, but the simple reality is that the 2008s are beautiful, elegant, refined Barbere that avoid the excessive heaviness that was common in the past." - Antonio Galloni (Dec 2010)
