Notes from the Winemaker (2009 vintage):

CATCH THE BOUQUET…
Clothed in mystery and unable to divulge secrets, Bridesmaid is a serious wine for bona fide wine drinkers. Bold yet elegant, this Bordeaux-style blend is both approachable and cellar worthy.

Bridesmaid Wines coordinators Pam Starr and Drew Neiman are having a blast creating this unique and quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet blend. Every year the composition changes and the sources remain the same…Undisclosed. The final wine is full of big ripe Napa Valley “Bordeaux” varieties.

Starr garnered her inspiration for this wine while working at such celebrated wineries as Spottswoode, Gemstone, and now her own label, Crocker & Starr. Meanwhile, Neiman has kept his winemaking skills sharp with the creation of Neiman Cellars and stints at Newton, Kongsgard, and Chateau Boswell.

BLENDERS NOTES
2009 Bridesmaid White
63% Sauvignon Blanc and 37% Semillon
Fresh and complex, this blend tastes of sweet honeydew melon, ripe peaches, cream and a touch of apricot.  There’s a wonderful mineral quality, fresh milled flowers, and a lively acidity giving the wine an effortless balance.  Pairs well with everything from chicken and fish to soft cheeses. Production: 1,400 cases

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2009 vintage):
"The 2009 Bridesmaid White displays loads of spring garden-like floral notes intermixed with some honeysuckle, white peach, pineapple, and melon. This exotic, luscious, dry, mid-weight white should be drunk over the next year.

This is a brilliant project putting together blends that are declassified from other wineries. In this case, ten wineries contributed to the 2009 white wine blend, which is 63% Sauvignon Blanc and 37% Semillon, and 20 wineries for the 2007 Bridesmaid Red, a final blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec. These are impressively put-together wines, and all the credit first has to go to whoever buys the already made juice and, secondly, whoever assembles these blends." - Robert Parker (12/2010)
