Tasting Notes: A Barbera with a deep violet-ruby red color, Brichet has an intense, varied bouquet revealing winey hints of fresh red fruit, blueberry and prune that blend into the gentle notes of spices and coffee that are released by just the right amount of ageing in wood (in casks and barrique). Conforming perfectly to the bouquet, the flavor is strikingly fresh and savou\ry and it is complemented by a forceful structure that does not conceal the balanced, yet palpable acidity and tannin content. The finish is tasty and pleasantly persistent.
Ratings & Reviews
90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Caviola’s 2009 Barbera d’Alba Brichet is a fabulous wine graced with layers of expressive, plump fruit and an engaging, seductive personality. At first rather extroverted, the Brichet turns increasingly more elegant on the palate, until the lasting impression is one of endless silkiness and textural finesse. This is all about the elusive elegance that is typical of Piedmont’s finest reds. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019." - Antonio Galloni (Dec 2010)
90 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"This red has power and intensity, with a base of tannins supporting the blackberry and black cherry flavors. Present, yet seemingly weightless, this ends with grip and a hint of chocolate. Drink now through 2016. 500 cases imported." –BS (Feb 29, 2012)
90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2010 vintage):
"The 2010 Barbera d’Alba Brichet bursts from the glass with layers of exuberant, varietally expressive fruit. This is a big, rich style long on the fruit and less concerned with subtlety, but it is hugely enjoyable for what it is; a juicy, totally delicious Barbera. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018." - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2011)
90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2008 vintage):
"The 2008 Barbera d’Alba Brichet flows with generous dark red fruit, mint, flowers and spices, all of which come together effortlessly on a plush, mid-weight frame. The Brichet shows beautiful poise and harmony all the way through to the polished finish. It is a commendable effort in a challenging year. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013." - Antonio Galloni (Dec 2010)
