About this wine:

With low yields per acre, limiting the vigor in the new plant and working with drastic but appropriate thinning, we have managed to significantly improve the level of ripeness of the grapes from this vineyard, that usually has a very little but intense aroma. From the first bottling (2005 vintage) to the present, the wine has undergone a steady and clear evolution, with a consequent increase in quality. The grapes, harvested and selected by hand, must undergo a soft pressing followed by a cold static decantation for about 18 hours.

About the producer:

Col Del Mondo or 'Hill of the World' is a young and dynamic estate. It was founded by friends in 2001. The winemaker is Fabrizio Mazzocchetti, son of one of the three partners. The vineyards are located in what is considered the best area for Montepulciano DOC: on the hills (200-300 meters high with south/south-west exposure) of Collecorvino and Catignano in the Pescara province and Atri in the Teramo province. Only grapes from the 22 acre estate are used to make the wines.

Because the Adriatic Sea is only a little over 12 miles away, the calcareous soils are rich in sea elements and the ocean breezes work to the vineyards' advantage. During the summer it is never too hot and at night the temperature drops significantly. This has a positive effect on the development of fresh, fruity aromas in the wines.
