Notes from the Winemaker (2014 vintage):
The 2014 Mad Hatter is a fitting part of a continuum of quality. It is an integrated blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (68%), Cabernet Franc (19%), Petite Verdot (9%), Syrah (3%) and Malbec (1%). It has aromas of ripe red cherries, blackberries, seasoned with brown baking spices and a hint of juniper, all grounded by notes of freshly tilled soil. True to form, the wine has a soft approach, full body and elegant finish. The palate is dense and earthy, with flavors of red and blackcurrant, blackberry and lavender. A hint of dark chocolate and licorice extend through a long, soft finish.

Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2013 Vintage):
"The 2013 Proprietary Red Mad Hatter, 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, is a big-time winner. It has a gorgeously deep ruby/purple color, a sweet kiss of licorice, blackcurrants, black cherries, camphor and incense. The wine is fragrant, with supple tannins, an opulent lushness and a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. Drink it over the next 10-12 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (30th Dec 2015)

92 Points - Antonio Galloni (2013 Vintage):
"Fleshy, open and seductive, the 2013 Mad Hatter makes a great introduction to the wines of Dancing Hares. Mocha, plum, dark stone fruit and spice flesh out at this succulent Cabernet Sauvignon-based red shows off its inviting personality." - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2015)

Wine Spectator Magazine (2013 Vintage):
A rugged, earthy expression of dense, chewy Cabernet, with far more power and tannic muscle than fruit charm. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2020 through 2027. 1,050 cases made." - JL (Web Only 2017)
