About This Wine:

It’s hard to believe that we could experience a wine that surpasses the outstanding 2006 in both concentration and silky power, but the 2007 does—with even more precision and energy. This is the Châteauneuf killer—one sip and you’ll be converted. A blend of Grenache, Syrah and a touch of Mourvèdre, hand-harvested and sorted from multiple passes from a steep mountain vineyard perched on the sides of the Dentelles de Montmirail; aged primarily in older barrels. A knock-out wine.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Ripe and broad, but defined, with mouthwatering roasted apple wood and mulled plum and blackberry fruit flavors on a rounded, lush frame. Long and smoldering on the finish, with a lingering iron note. Drink now through 2013."—J.M. (12/8/2010)

91 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:

"Bright ruby. Dark berries and kirsch on the nose, with hints of smoky minerals and garrigue adding complexity. Sweet dark berry flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and pick up notes of candied flowers and cola on the back half. Smoothly blends depth and energy, with good mineral snap to penetrating cherry and cassis flavors on the long, spicy finish." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan/Feb 2010)

89-92 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Inky ruby. Powerfully scented aromas of blackberry, brown spices, lavender and graphite. Fleshy but energetic, with spicy dark berry flavors and a velvety texture, with no tannins to get in the way of the fruit. Finishes broad, sappy and persistent. This is a blend of 67% grenache, 27% syrah and 6% mourvedre, vinified with 50% of the stems." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan/Feb 2009)

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine ('06 vintage):
"Very round and mouthfilling, with a large core of macerated currant and plum fruit pushed by dark but integrated toast, graphite and melted licorice notes. There's plenty of sweet spice and minerality buried on the finish. This has power and balance. Drink now through 2012." –JM (Web Only - 2009)
