Ratings & Reviews
91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:"This is fleshy and smoky, with enticing mesquite, tobacco and iron notes weaving through the large core of fig and blackberry fruit. The long, smoldering finish has some serious grip in reserve. Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. Drink now through 2013. 2,500 cases made." –JM (2011)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:"The 2009 Seguret Tradition (65% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 10% Carignan) exhibits vivid aromas of black cherries, Provencal herbs, and garrigue. It cuts a bigger swath across the palate than the 2008 and reveals more glycerin and density. Enjoy this high class Cotes du Rhone over the next 2-3 years.
Mourchon has quickly emerged as one of the leading estates of the Cotes du Rhone village of Seguret. Normally three cuvees are produced although in 2008, no Grande Reserve was made. Proprietor Walter McKinlay continues to prove that humble pedigrees can turn out silky vinous treasures." - Robert Parker (Oct 2010)
90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2007 vintage):"The 2007 Seguret Tradition has a glorious nose of garrigue, pepper, lavender, and spices. Its dense purple, concentrated color is followed by medium body, admirable elegance and purity, and a round, generous, even opulent finish. This is a beauty to drink over the next 3-4 years.
This excellent estate, which was purchased in 1998 by the McKinlay family and encompasses over 60 acres of relatively old vines, has proven over a short period of time to be one of the stars among all the Cotes du Rhone-Villages estates." -Robert Parker (10/2009)
