About This Wine:

Domaine Cherrier is located near the commune of Verdigny, northwest of the village of Sancerre. The family Cherrier represents three generations of Sancerre winemakers, with 14 hectares of vineyards.

Our Sancerre selection is 100% tank-made, from vineyards that represent a mix of silex (flint) and stony, chalky soils. Vines are older, and low-yielding; the family also does green harvesting to further lower yields. This is classic Sancerre, with flinty perfumes, abundant white fruit and citrus flavors, and a clean, brisk finish with touches of sea salt.

What Does It Taste Like?

Pure energy. Everything you could want in top-notch Sancerre with an added layer of rich white fruit (think poached pears and juicy green apples) that coats the palate before a wave of citrus energy washes over and sets up the taste buds for the next sip. Aromas of wildflowers and firecrackers are a nod to this third-generation Sancerre family’s outstanding terroir; the finish reminds of fresh sea breezes, lime sorbet and an endless summer. Great acidic balance, flavorful persistence and length.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Pale yellow. Spicy citrus and orchard fruits on the nose, with notes of fennel and white pepper adding energy. Tightly wound, focused grapefruit and lemongrass flavors are deepened by a note of bitter pear skin. The finish is taut, linear and refreshingly tangy. Painfully young now and in need of aeration or another year of bottle age." - Josh Raynolds (Mar/April 2010)
