About the Producer:
The individual vineyards of Dominique Cornin are an apt reflection of the man himself. Each parcel carries a part of the family's history in the Mâconnais. Les Chevrières holds the same plot his father planted over 50 years ago. Clos Reyssié bears fruit from the same vines his father put to seed in 1938. The 100 year-old parcel in Les Serreudières reaches even further into the past of Cornin's roots in the vineyards. In the same manner that these old vines labor to yield the fruit, Dominique subtly guides the wine from vine to bottle with little interjection. Such is the unassuming standard of high quality from Cornin. Dominique bottles both of his Mâcon-Villages from their respective villages, with an emphasis to reflect the individual parcels with each bottling. He farms by the same biodynamic methods as the acclaimed Domaine Leroy, Leflaive and Zind-Humbrecht; yet his wines sell for a fraction of their prices. Dominique's only motive is to give his vineyards the best chance to express their terroir, and they reward us all for the attention.
Ratings & Reviews
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2009 vintage):"Bright gold. Dried pear, chamomile and toasty lees on the nose, with a bright note of orange peel adding vivacity. Smoky and tactile, offering subtly sweet pear and citrus flavors and a touch of iodine. Pretty serious for the category, finishing with very good clarity and mineral-driven persistence." - Josh Raynolds (Feb '11)
Wine Spectator Magazine (2007 vintage):"Crisp acidity frames this lightly juicy white, with flavors of Granny Smith apple and star fruit. Moderate finish. Drink now. 750 cases made." –AN (2009)
