Notes from the Winemaker:
The El Coto Rioja Rosé is a traditional blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha sourced from estate and other vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa. The wine sees a quick 48 hour maceration on the skins to extract flavor and color followed by a cold fermentation and bottling.
The wine has tangy, red cherry aromas with piquant herbal notes and ripe, juicy flavors on the palate. Cleansing acidity helps balance the fruit and helps the long, clean finish.
Ratings & Reviews:
"Best Buy!" Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2010 vintage):"Always a consistent rosé from Rioja. The nose is candied but fresh and nice, while the palate is full but standard, with plump melon, citrus and raspberry flavors. Finishes short but sturdy, with balance and good acidity." —M.S. (10/1/2011)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2010 vintage):"The 2010 El Coto Rosado is made up of equal parts of Garnacha and Tempranillo fermented and aged in stainless steel. This medium pink offering delivers rose petal and strawberry aromas and flavors with a touch of clove and cinnamon added to the mix. It is a dry, savory, tasty Rose for drinking over the next 12-18 months. It, too, is a solid value." - Jay Miller (Jun 2011)
