This wine was a great deal (at the discount) and came from a well reviewed lineage. I was disappointed in the taste considering the retail price; I was expecting much more in both body and aroma. I found it slightly acidic and abrasive, but after allowing for sufficient time to breath and decant, finally decided that it may recover with rich foods (I was thinking beef or lasagna).

From the quick taste courtesy of Christine as I came to get my case, I'm really impressed - even ignoring the crazy discount. Classic reductive smokey Syrah notes (bacon, a hint of rubber) with vibrant acidity and slightly herbacious black olive character lingering at the edges of blueberry-blackberry fruit. Medium mouth-feel and relatively low tannins suggest no need for cellaring. A lively complex wine with a potent nose, just begging for rack of lamb.
