About this Wine:

Tasting notes:

A vintage showing better growing conditions than the last few drought affected ones. Not as massive as say the '03, yet with all the great balance and finesse that Georgia's is known for, including the sweet, spicy fruit flavours and viscous palate. Beautiful magenta tone. Will cellar for ten years, maybe more, but you can drink from now onwards. 13.5 percent alcohol/volume

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
"Far lighter than previous vintages; a medium-bodied, elegant wine; red cherry, black cherry and spice intermingle with balanced oak; silky finish. "

93 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:

"Deep violet. Explosively perfumed scents of ripe blueberry, cassis, kirsch, cured tobacco and dried flowers. At once very ripe and lively, with potent red and dark berry flavors; verges on jammy but maintains energy and focus. Soft tannins add support to this massive shiraz, whose level of extract suggests that it will repay at least a decade of cellaring." - Josh Raynolds (Jul/Aug '07)

92 Points -
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2005 Shiraz “Georgia’s Paddock” was aged in 20% new French and American oak. Yields for the wine were a meager 1.5 tons per acre. It exhibits an enticing perfume of smoke, pencil lead, mineral, blueberry, and blackberry. Made in an elegant style, the wine has lots of spice, rich flavors, plenty of depth, and a long finish. Drink it over the next 10-12 years." - Jay Miller (Oct 2007)

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Bright and distinctly peppery on the nose, this is savory and appealing for its polished frame and range of dark berry flavors against notes of cedar and coffee. Not as tart as some Heathcote wines. Drink now through 2015. 64 cases imported." –HS (Sep 30, 2007)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This is a charming paradox of a wine, one that manages to be full-bodied and creamy-textured without being heavy or overly alcoholic, resulting in a wine of great elegance. The raspberry and cherry fruit offers some herbal nuances as well, ending on a spicy, tobacco-leaf note. Drinkable now, but should evolve positively through 2015 at least." —J.C.  (4/1/2009)

100 Points - James Suckling (2009 vintage):
Intense aromas of licorice and dark berries with hints of tar. Graphite too. Full bodied, with a beautiful core of fruit. Ultra-fine tannins. All there. This is breathtaking with laser guided focus. So long and balanced. Wonderful. Better in 2014.
