Notes from the Winemaker (2006 vintage):Bright, dark red. Spicy red berries, cherry and a flinty nuance on the nose. Then silky, supple and sweet with chewy black and red cherry flavors. Not especially fleshy but offers an attractive restrained sweetness and finishes with rather soft tannins and good length. Perfect for sirloin steak, grilled, roasted or stewed red meats.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - James Suckling:
"Aromas
of dark berries and flowers, with hints of rose petal or lilac.
Full-bodied, with super silky and racy tannins and a lingering finish of
dried mushrooms, fruit and berries. Not quite the 2006, but
outstanding. Drink now." (Jan 25, 2012)
93 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Opens
with dark concentration and syrupy aromas of cherry liqueur, blackberry
preserves and cassis concentrate. The wine is soft, plump and chewy
with a smooth, thick quality to its texture that makes it a natural
pairing partner to succulent cuts of red meat." —M.L. (1/19/2012)
95 Points - James Suckling (2006 vintage):"Blueberries, flowers and raspberries. Love the nose, like so many others. Full body, with fine tannins and a silky textured finish. So much going on here. Class. Best after 2013." (Jan 15, 2011)
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2006 vintage):
"La Poderina’s Brunello shows impressive balance between its bright fruit and sassy spice components. On the close, the wine exhibits a tight, firm and penetrating feel that is carried forth by acidity and the natural firmness of the tannins." — M.L. (4/1/2011)
90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2006 vintage):
"Good
full red. Withdrawn but pure aromas of cherry and iron. Juicy red
fruit and mineral flavors are a bit sullen today but show good depth.
Began serious and savory but time in the glass brought more texture and
sweetness. Finishes with ripe tannins and very good length." - Stephen
Tanzer (Jul/Aug '11)
