We produced this Vosne-Romanée from Pinot Noir vines with an average age of 50 years, harvested from sites around the historic village of Vosne-Romanée. The growing season and harvest in 2006 were fine for Pinot Noir with lovely ripeness of fruit, purity and structure. Bottled after 16 months in barrel, this is a wine of real complexity, structure and length which we really hope that you will enjoy.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2010 vintage):
"Medium red.  Cherry, redcurrant and gingerbread on the nose.  Fleshy and broad but dry, offering chewy red berry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of candied rose.  Finishes with good length and peppery bite, repeating the gingerbread note.  This is a very traditional style of Bordeaux that barely exists anymore and straddles the line between rose and red wine; it would be great with a roasted chicken or a mushroom-based dish." - Josh Raynolds (Jun '11)

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Lovely berry, spice and leather aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with firm and silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. A harmonious wine. Not quite what it was from barrel, but outstanding all the same. Racy Calon. Best after 2010." –JS (Mar 31, 2003)

"This very structured wine is dry, in the Laurent-Perrier house style. Crunchy green apples are supported by richness and a complex texture. With nine years in the cellar, it has already gained some maturity, but needs aging." — R.V. (December 2011)

An irresistible mix of ripe citrus and toasted nut aromas reminiscent of grapefruit, fig and pistachio biscotti taken with chamomile tea. The palate leads with savoury notes which give way to a taut citrus core, revealing the vibrant Marlborough fruit. Natural yeast fermentation and judicious oak handling combine to deliver a refined and textural finish. Expect the 2007 Cloudy Bay Chardonnay to age gracefully over the next five to seven years.

Wine
In the glass, our Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon shows dark, inky purple depths that bloom with brambly black fruit, blueberry pie and layers of toasted oak, nutmeg and clove. The signature Rutherford fruit shines across the midpalate as the smooth entry develops a brooding underbelly of rich, dark, juicy fruit. Dried cherries, dark cocoa and sweet hazelnut coffee melt through the middle, joined by barrel nuances that lend tannins and structure without overpowering the fruit. This well-balanced, well-structured Cabernet Sauvignon will hold up to hardy roasted or braised meats and rich sauce dishes.

"Wonderful, evocative orange marmalade and ginger flavors play around this rich wine. Its botrytis dryness doesn’t detract from the intense sweetness, ripe apricots, spice and deliciously refreshing acidity. The richness is in the texture, but the ripeness is in the open, generous fruit." R.V.  (3/1/2009)
