Notes from the Winemaker:

Dogliani"Vigna Tecc" docg

The low yield and the fact that it stems from a balanced blend of Dolcetto grapes from the oldest Einaudi vineyards in Dogliani, require a long and cautious maturation to give this traditional wine of the Langa its full potential. 16 months of ageing in steel tanks and 2 months in bottles complete the refinement.

The wine

A high quality wine which ages well in 3 to 4 years, deep ruby red with shades of violet with a fresh, rich, fruity bouquet, full bodied with intense fragrances of woodland, pleasantly tannic and a slightly almond final note. It has the same basic characteristics of the Dolcetto DOC, notable for separate fermentation of grapes which come from a balanced blending of the Dolcetto grapes of the oldest vineyards in the Einaudi estates. Located on the “sorì” (South facing) of Madonna delle Grazie, San Giacomo and San Luigi in Dogliani. Of a dry and moderately acidic taste, after a year of ageing in steel and two months of refinement in glass, it has a good body and full taste with a final almond note, typical of this wine.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2007 vintage):

"The 2007 Dogliani Vigna Tecc (Dolcetto) is a big, powerful wine imbued with tons of perfumed dark fruit. This soft-textured, generous red offers exceptional depth and a long, harmonious finish, where floral notes add a note of lift. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012." - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2009)

90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2007 vintage):
"(from a single old vineyard) Deep ruby-red. Black cherry and bitter chocolate on the nose. Fat, rich, large-scaled and sweet, with cherry and chocolate flavors nicely framed by round acidity. Finishes with substantial dusty but ripe tannins and terrific breadth and length. This, too, was done entirely in tank." - Stephen Tanzer (Mar '10)
