About the Winery:

In 1982 Michele started his own winery, one of the first in Bolgheri, with newly acquired vines from his previous employer. In this famous region of Tuscany, Michele rapidly earned respect and became known quickly as a vigneron. Michele even worked as a consultant for other properties in the early 1990s, including Ornellaia at which time Michele planted many of their vineyards. Michele has always been the local expert on the great terroir of Bolgheri and this is why his wines have been so well regarded in Italy.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"($50; equal parts sangiovese, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and syrah) Very dark ruby with a deep purple core. Sultry, almost musky nose, with hints of vanilla and wildflower. Intensely flavored and brooding, with notes of plum jam, cassis, Mediterranean herbs and mint resonating on the palate, followed by graphite and tobacco on the substantial finish. Shows excellent tannic grip. Though surrounded by Bolgheri neighbors who vinify primarily Bordeaux-styled blends, Satta has believed from the start in the quality of sangiovese in this region. His wines certainly uphold this view." - Edward Beltrami (Jul/Aug 2003)

Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Loads of ripe, even overripe, fruit aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a medium finish. Big and rich. I like it. Give this time. Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah. Best after 2004. 3,100 cases made."–JS (Oct 31, 2002)
