About This Wine:

Made from 100% Turbiano grapes (clonal type of Trebbiano di Lugana), this wine has considerable body and has a crisp, zesty and mineral laden dry finish. It is the finest Italian white wine we have ever imported in 12 years.
Buy this exotic and flavorful white wine by the case and enjoy it with light seafood dishes, poultry, pasta, chicken, sun dried tomatoes.

Azienda Agricola Ottella was founded in 1880 and the Montresor family has been grape growers for many generations at the Southern end of Lake Garda, near Peschiera del Garda in the D.O.C. (northwest Italy).

The winery is named after a legend that says some octuplets were born at the farm in the 16th century, and the family had immortalized the tradition naming the winery "Ottella".

Ratings & Reviews

Gambero Rosso's Vini d'Italia:
"Among the selections aged in stainless steel by the Montresor family, this one is the most ambitious. A careful vineyard selection of the grapes is followed by vinification aimed at spotlighting the extraordinary quality of the fruit. Aromas are deeper and more varied, with fruity notes but also floral and herbal tones. The wine is noteworthy in the mouth, offering full flavor and good structure without losing qualities like fragrance and easy drinkability - a wine that will satisfy both wine fans and occasional wine drinkers." - Gambero Rosso 2011

Excellent Value! April 3, 2012
Reviewer: Greg from San Ramon
Light straw in color. This wine is an unbelievable value. If you are looking for something  between a Sauvignon blanc and a Chardonnay this is it. Crisp, refreshing, without the classic Sauvignon blanc "bite". Rounder and fatter in the mouth but far from the mouthfeel of a Chardonnay. Perfect for warm weather picnic. The wine opened with fresh cut apples, white flowers, orange zest with a hint of vanilla, no oak here but could be from aging in older oak or just the grape itself. Apricot and lemon are apparent underneath the primary aromatics. In the mouth the wine is grapefruit pith, apple, wet stones and a lengthy finish for the price point. A surprisingly complex wine. Drink now.

The Ottella Le Creete is worth every penny and pro August 24, 2011
Reviewer: Steven H. from Carmel, CA United States
Gaja makes a great Chardonnay and there are a few other pricey Italian whites out there, but the Ottella Le Creete is worth every penny and probably more.

Hard to characterize, but here is my feeble shot: shows the Veneto terroir, but not like any other low end Veneto whites.  Nose subtle, slightly unripe yellow pears, even some lychee, slight notes of lite old tannins that do not appear in the mouth at all, fresh wet river pebbles.  Body clean, crisp, great lit minerality, good lite acidity (in the positive sense of acidity) for freshness, the lychee & just ripe yellow pear fruit comes around in the soft rich mouthfeel.  Just a great wine to drink either on its own with serious friends or with a pasta/scrambled eggs & white truffles grated over the top.

Always a pleasure to visit your store, get good advice and wines to enjoy at some of the best prices in the country!
