About This Wine:The 2008 Patton Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir is all about intensity, concentration and structure. Its nose is a pantry of dark, exotic spices, black cherries, loamy earth and spring flowers. The wine quietly announces its entry with a sleek and highly refined texture that fails to hint at the bold concentration that follows. The mid-palate is a dense and complex array of dark cherry, plum, clove, anise and molasses. With near perfect balance of fruit, acid and tannin, the vintage will likely be regarded for its longevity; the result of the vintages slow ripening. Cellar with confidence for a decade or more.
Ratings & Reviews
92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:"Light and succulent, packaging its seductive red cherry, pomegranate, caramel and mineral flavors in a wispy blanket of fine tannins, deftly balanced to let it all sing together harmoniously as the finish lingers. Drink now through 2018. 2,400 cases made." –HS (10/15/2010)
90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:" Light, bright red. High-pitched aromas of strawberry, raspberry and rose are complemented by notes of white pepper and orange zest. Sweet red fruit flavors are lifted by a tangy mineral note and framed by silky tannins. A hint of smokiness arrives on the finish, which is juicy, focused and nicely persistent." - Josh Raynolds (Jul/Aug '10)
94 Points - Wine & Spirits Magazine (v. 2007):"Patton Valley lies outside all of the Willamette Valley's six new sub-AVAs, not far from Yamhill-Carlton. This estate wine has an ethereal scent of fresh raspberries, grounded with a whiff of tree bark and earth. The flavors remain fresh and exuberant — as if red cherries would burst from the glass were it not for the earthy savory checking the fruit. It has the structured, savory presence for veal with truffles. (2,450 cases)" (12/2009)
