Notes from the winery:

DEFINITION: This is a Port with an indication of its average age, aged in oak casks and taking on characteristics of walnuts, died fruits and spices, showing increasing intensity of colour, complexity, concentration and depth of flavour.

Varietal Composition: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Barroca predominate among the traditional grape varieties of the Demarcated Region of the Douro Valley.

Vineyard Location:  100% from grapes of Quinta do Noval, Pinhão.

Analysis:

Alcohol: 21º   % vol
Residual Sugar: 127, 8    g/dm3
Total Acid: 5, 92   g/dm3 Tartaric Acid
Ph: 3, 5

Barrel Type:  old oak barrels of 640 liters.

Bottling Date:  Bottled according to demand.

Barrel Time: the old tawnies spend their entire life in barrel until the moment of the final blend.

Vinification:  the grapes were trodden by foot and fermented in the traditional "lagares" of the Quinta, where a disciplined and intense treading is fundamental for a good final result.

Tasting Notes: Light amber colour.  Extremely rich and complex nutty bouquet reminiscent of mint and almonds. Full bodied, sweet and rich in taste with an attractive nuttiness and a lingering finish in spite of its age.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Intensely fruity, delivering vibrant orange zest, dried mango, apricot compote and baked apple flavors that are plush, well-structured and long. Notes of sage and honey mark the mineral-infused finish. Drink now. 25 cases imported." –KM (Jun 30, 2011)

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This is a sweet but deliciously mature wine that exudes the richness of its burnt orange flavors, layers of sweet toffee, and clean, hugely rich aftertaste. A great wine. Imported by William Grant & Sons, Inc."  — R.V.  (8/1/2006)
