Notes from the Winemaker:

Even great Pinot Noir winemakers need a break from the finicky, noble grape once in awhile. Ken Wright, known for his highly-rated, single-vineyard Pinot Noir, introduced a new label in 2003, Tyrus Evan, producing Claret, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. The production of the Tyrus Evan line will always remain small which is bad news for consumers as quality just keeps getting better and better. Ripe, round and generous with its plum, currant and cherry fruit, this is brushed by tar, cola and decaying leaf notes before the fruit emerges on the finish to linger beautifully against grippy tannins. Every sip shows a different facet.

Owner Norm McKibben moved to Walla Walla, Washington upon his retirement in the mid 1980s. At that time when there was a total of 40 acres of grapes in the valley. Without a doubt, both Pepper Bridge and Seven Hills have done more than build on the reputation of Walla Walla, they have proven it.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Rich, ripe and round, offering a broad mouthful of cherry, blackberry, cola and black tea flavors that come together into a deftly balanced whoosh of a finish that shoots through effectively and lingers effortlessly. Drink now through 2016."—H.S.  (Aug 17, 2011)

95 Points & "Hot Wines" - Wine Spectator Magazine (2007 vintage):
"Ripe, round and generous with its plum, currant and cherry fruit, this is brushed by tar, cola and decaying leaf notes before the fruit emerges on the finish to linger beautifully against grippy tannins. Every sip shows a different facet. Best from 2012 through 2020. 382 cases made." –HS (10/6/2010)
