Rich color, Distinctive Pinot Noir with fruit aromas of Raspberry, blackberry and spicy black cherry. This combined with high mineral soil content creates complex textures that are mouth watering. Great flavor with good acidity.

This deluxe cuvee is limited to 400 cases and comes from the Clawson Creek Vineyard.

The Estate
This wine is being produced by Ken Wright Cellars.

The Vineyard
The vineyard is located in Clawson Creek, within the Yamhill Carlton District.

The Yamhill Carlton District is a relatively new (2004) grape growing region located in the Willamette Valley AVA’s Yamhill County, with its northern border overlapping the Washington County line. It is just thirty-five miles southwest of the US State of Oregon’s largest city Portland.

This AVA is unusual with its horseshoe shaped formation consisting of two low ridges that surround the towns of Yamhill and Carlton. Its sheltered location ensures protection from bad weather with the Coast Range to the west, the Chehalem Mountains to the north and the Dundee Hills to the east offering substantial shelter. Less rain falls here as a result, which complements quality viticulture. The region is defined by its altitude. All vineyards must be planted between 200 and 1,000 feet above sea level. The soils like many other Willamette Valley AVAs are unique. Here they are predominantly ancient marine sediments over fast draining sandstone. The regions signature variety Pinot Noir grown in these soils often has lower natural acidity resulting in a wine that displays more savory, earthy flavors, dark fruits and hints of dark chocolate. Small amounts of Pinot Gris and Chardonnay are also grown.

92 Points - Cheers Magazine:
"A pinot that speaks of terroir, with subtle earthy notes; the palate is subtle but complex and actually shows some intensity in the finish; firm red raspberry, black cherry, Asian plum and subtle spice notes along with a hint of truffle; good balance and length."
