Notes from the winemaker:

Like many works of art, the 2010 Painter Bridge Zinfandel was designed with an eye towards good composition. The fruit for this wine comes from four Paso Robles Zinfandel blocks and is blended with a wonderfully soft and spicy Syrah, which offers fruit and length, and a bit of Petite Sirah for additional body and palate structure. Each lot of Zinfandel was fermented separately, extracting the nuances of the individual vineyard blocks and drawing out a supple texture. Painter Bridge Zinfandel is awash with the gorgeous red fruit characters of the Zinfandel grape, and has been stylized to accent the delicate fruit without overpowering it with too much oak.

The grapes for River Ranch Vineyards are grown in the sandy loam bank of the Carmel River in Carmel Vally, CA. Warm days and cool nights with coastal fog and summer winds provide ideal conditions for the cultivation of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Please enjoy these limited production wines by River Ranch Vineyards.

"River Ranch is like a mysterious relative who seems to be at all the family functions. Yet nobody really knows much about him. For years, River Ranch Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have graced the tables at all the best local restaurants, have been available at all the important bottle shops, and yet no one ever seems to be promoting the wines. There is no website, no press release and no fluffy merchandising tools. All there is, is consistently delicious Burgundian varietal wines that are ensconced in Monterey County wine culture as any brand out there." - The Coast Weekly Newspaper

93-95 Points - The Rhone Report:
"A structured and downright tannic barrel sample, the 2009 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel is a blend of 40% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 27% Grenache, and 5% Cinsault, aged all in large foudre. It exhibits first-rate aromas of earthy dark fruits, tar, leather, and meaty notes that carry into a full bodied, dense, structured wine. This will most likely demand 3 to 5 years of bottle age, and then be very long lived." (November 2011)

91-94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2009 Esprit de Beaucastel, tasted from foudre, is very, very young. The wine literally explodes on the palate with a rush of dark fruit enshrouded within a wall of muscular tannin. The 2009 is a dark inward Esprit that will require patience, but when the wine opens up it will be a jewel. Actually, it already is. In 2009 the blend is 40% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 27% Grenache and 5% Counoise. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

94 Points - James Suckling:
"Aromas of Braziian limes and lemon with flowers. Lemon crud. Rich. Full-bodied, with wonderful dense and agile palate of dried apples, mango and figs. Love the finish. Caramel, honey and lemons. Rousanne really comes out. 62% Rousanne, 26% Grenache Blanc and 12% Picpoul Blanc. Drink now or hold." (Oct 3, 2011)
