Medium golden-yellow; with air, the nose delivers a basket full of fruit if served not too cool: pears, apples, gooseberries, greengages and a little bit of mango, mingling with a fresh bunch of herbs – amazingly deep and multi-faceted aromas. On the palate this is succulent, exuding flavors as clear as spring water. Drifts along endlessly, yet has you immediately wanting another glass. Again, proof of how wonderfully Roter Veltliner can taste. Forget Chablis, choose this one to go with your oysters.

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The Loimer 2010 Gruner Veltliner Kaferberg was, as in other recent years, fermented in Acacia casks, which accentuates the lush, glycerin-rich palate impression and sweetly floral, spicy overtones to ots pink grapefruit, honeydew melon, and apple fruit. This had been recently racked into large oak (with retention of some fine lees) when I tasted it and was likely to have been bottled at the end of the summer...it retains a welcome juiciness and finishes with admirable transparency of fruit to spicy and peppery impingement, and should be worth following for 4-6 years." – David Schildknecht, Oct 2011

91 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"A gorgeous nose evokes saffron, moss, iris and lily-of-the-valley along with anticipations of the white peach and apple that then dominate a slightly waxy, palpably dense yet buoyant palate. Orange rind accents and the persistence of inner-mouth floral perfume add appeal, leading to a finish of infectious juiciness, delightful levity (at well under 12% alcohol) and seeming suffusion of crushed stone. Most of the truly astonishing values from this vintage involve Grüner Veltliner, but here’s a Riesling whose price/quality rapport wows. What’s more, its energetically interactive and refreshing appeal had not dimmed in the least on the occasion of a September 2105 retasting." - David Schildknecht (September 2015)

92 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"This predictably represents a leap in quality and complexity over the Loess and Spiegel bottlings. Mossy and alkaline notes on the nose are joined by intimations of the vegetable and fruit diversity to come. Bittersweet floral and nutmeg notes gain intensity as the wine opens to the air. A savory, earthy amalgam of roasted beet and red peppers, caramelized parsnip, blond tobacco and spicy peppercorn, displayed on an expansive, silken palate, is lent primary juiciness by fresh pear, apple and snap pea. An unexpected jolt of radish lends stimulation to a lusciously lingering finish. Here is the sort of complex and undulating layering that characterizes Hiedler’s Thal in all of its best installments." - David Schildknecht (May 2015)
