"A pure, well-sculpted, off-dry version, with persimmon, lime and slate flavors coating the palate. Hints of orchard blossom and herbs add to the complexity, making you reach for another sip. Drink now through 2024. 7,000 cases made." - AZ (Feb 2018)

94 Points - James Suckling:
"Great interplay of creaminess and raciness, and there's the classic cassis note of this site with a great mineral freshness. Very long and pure. Try to live clean, take regular exercise and hope you'll be around when it's fully mature." (June 8, 2017)

90 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"This product of November 30 and December 5 pickings at multiple sites (Erdener Herrenberg prominent among them) delivers a slightly sweet-sour meld of green apple and apple candy with glazed pineapple. It displays prominent glycerol and considerable sense of stuffing to help buffer its blazing, penetrating, tangy brightness, and finishes with penetrating if edgy and only moderately complex persistence. I would permit it a year or two to settle itself, but given Eiswein’s caprices, I wouldn’t lose track of any bottles I cellared." - David Schildknecht (Jan 2018)

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Initial whiffs of smoke and struck flint fade into pretty pineapple and blossom on the nose of this full-bodied, dry Riesling. Mango and tangerine flavors are riper and heftier on the palate than in many of the Mosel's 2015 Grosses Gewächs wines, neatly balanced by racy acidity and a backbone of cool steel. It's delicious already, but likely to evolve well through the 2020s at least. Alcohol 13%. (May 2017)"

93 Points - James Suckling:

""As usual, this is more backward than the Juffer (which surrounds this site on three sides), and combines the high notes of that wine with more depth and an earthy touch. This needs time, but is a really sophisticated wine with a lot of subtlety." (9/9/16)

97 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2016 Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Auslese "Schmitt" (AP 24 17) is a very clear, fresh and precise on the nose, with very fine mineral aromas of crunchy slate. This reminds me a bit of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr in its finesse, perfectly ripe fruit and the finest possible expression of minerals in wine. This is the finest Schmitt I have ever had and surely one of the greatest 2016s from the Mosel. Its finesse and elegance are mind-blowing." - Stephan Reinhardt (27th Apr 2018)
Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese 2016 (Mosel, Germany)

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2016 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese (AP 20 17) has a super intense bouquet of perfectly ripe and concentrated Riesling berries. Lush and round, this is a mouth-filling and decadent Spätlese that is almost obscene in its juiciness. It's highly elegant, finessed, fine and piquant but also generous and intense, with persistent structure and mineral expression." - Stephan Reinhardt (27th Apr 2018)

92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"
The 2016 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett is a fabulous showing from Willi Schaefer. Bright and vibrant with beautifully clarity, this opens to aromatics of white peach, lime, green tea and wet stones all coming together. On this palate this is precise and beautifully balanced with a gorgeous combination of ripe fruit and lovely acidity making for a mouth watering finish. While this is simply delightful and just about impossible to resist now, expect this to continue to drink beautifully with some bottle age." (Best 2018-2032) (Nov 2017)

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2016 vintage):
"The 2016 Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese (AP 19 17) opens with its typical coolish-flinty and spicy bouquet that indicates a lovely ripeness and transparency. On the palate, this is an enormously lush, piquant and salty Schlossberg with grip, salt and tension. Extremely dangerous since you probably cannot stop drinking once you have started." - Stephan Reinhardt (Apr 2018)

Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"This cuvée (sold in Germany under the name Rotschiefer) is sourced ever more widely, now reaching past the original Ürzig and Erden to incorporate fruit from Rachtiger Deutschherrenberg, Lösnicher Försterlay and Kinheimer Rosenberg. The nose mingles bracing salinity and alkalinity of sea breeze with the more typically smoky, crushed stone evocations of red slate. Fresh lime and apple dominate fruit-wise, with stimulating, cooling green accents of thyme and rue following into a seriously sustained, multifaceted finish. This is the finest Loosen Rotschiefer cuvée I can recall!" - David Schildknecht (Jan 2018)

91-92 Points - James Suckling:
"Super-bright and crisp with beautiful balance. Just off-dry with a great, lemon-herbal finish. Better from 2018, but then at least a decade ahead of it." - (June 8, 2017)
