"A deep ruby-black with purple hints. Blackcurrant, dark cherries and blackberries, with spices, licorice and cocoa. A very rich mouthfeel with flavors of black fruit, jam, vanilla, spice and mineral notes. Excellent with game, beef, lamb, barbecue foods, roasted pork and a variety of other hearty dishes."

93 Points - Robert Parker:
"The 2013 Cornas la Louvee is gorgeous and has considerable elegance and purity in its cassis, liquid blackberry, licorice and crushed rock-laced bouquet. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, pure, perfectly balanced Cornas that has plenty of tannin, yet also plenty of fruit and mid-palate depth. More mineral driven than the les Ruchets, enjoy this complete, textured and lengthy 2013 anytime over the coming 15 years."

93 Points - Wine Spectator:
Offers some lovely ripeness, with blueberry compote, plum sauce and melted licorice notes gliding together seamlessly, offset deftly by a hint of chalk that lengthens the finish. A pleasant whiff of tobacco lurks in the background. A wonderful effort for the vintage. Best from 2018 through 2024. 350 cases made.

96 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This is intense, with layers of dark plum, fig and blackberry confiture flavors rolling through, carried by smoldering charcoal and bay leaf notes. Grippy throughout, but the integration is there, while ganache, licorice root and sweet tapenade details fill in on the finish. Impressive. Best from 2020 through 2040. 75 cases made." –JM

97 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"This has the density and power that is the hallmark of the vintage, with melted licorice snap and tar notes draped over a large-scale core of Pfig, blackberry and black currant paste flavors. The brooding finish shows a warm cast-iron accent streaking through. Best from 2022 through 2038. 550 cases made." – JM (Nov 30, 2018)

92-94 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"Saturated ruby. Potent black and blue fruit, cola, olive and smoky Indian spice aromas are lifted by a suggestion of cracked pepper. Sappy, pliant and appealingly sweet, offering ripe blueberry and cherry compote flavors that tighten up steadily with air. Rich yet energetic, showing strong closing punch and velvety tannins that fold smoothly into sappy dark fruit on the impressively long finish." - Josh Raynolds (March 2016)

98 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The Cornas of the vintage is Clape’s 2012 Cornas. An incredible effort, its inky purple/black color is followed by spectacular aromas and flavors of black raspberry, graphite, beef blood, iron, cedar and white pepper (among other things). This is Cornas at its finest, with insane aromatics, full-bodied richness and massive concentration, yet at the same time staying elegant, seamless and gorgeously pure. It’s more approachable than the 2010, but should still need 3-4 years of cellaring and have two decades of longevity." - Jeb Dunnuck Dec 2014)

"
Dark and brooding, this has a deep well of black currant, fig and bitter plum fruit in reserve, shrouded for now in smoldering charcoal, bay leaf and alder notes. Tapenade and tar details hang in the background. Offers a steel beam of a finish. Tuck this away in the back corner of your cellar. Best from 2020 through 2035. 1,438 cases made." – JM (Oct 2016)

93 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"Inky ruby. Blackberry, boysenberry, violet pastille, olive and licorice on the deeply perfumed nose. Shows a suave blend of power and vivacity, offering gently sweet dark berry and spicecake flavors and a smoky mineral nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Supple tannins make a late appearance on the spicy, focused and impressively long finish, which leaves behind sweet dark fruit liqueur and allspice notes." - Josh Raynolds (March 2016)

95 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"An understated style, but focus and you'll see just how lovely the cassis, cherry and raspberry flavors are, carried by riveting acidity and flecked with notes of powdered white pepper and violet. An iron girder drives the finish, pulling everything along. This is defined by pure, sleek cut. Best from 2020 through 2035. 915 cases made." –JM (Nov 2017

92-94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The riveting 2009 Cornas possesses an inky/blue/purple color along with notes of camphor, creosote, bouquet garni, black fruits, licorice, meat and pepper. It is a dense, wild but civilized, layered, thick, juicy Cornas that should benefit from 5-6 years of cellaring, and drink well for 15-20." - Robert Parker (Feb 2011)
