CASE PRICE = $47.99 per bottle (add 12+ quantity to your basket) 94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The
2005 Taurasi Pago dei Fusi is a huge, explosive wine. It possesses
superb delineation of aromas and flavors to match its dark, brooding
personality. Sweet balsamic notes develop in the glass, adding further
complexity as the wine gradually builds towards a powerful close. The
2005 doesn't appear to quite have the finesse of the 2004, but it comes
very close. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025." - Antonio Galloni (Jun
2011)

Cantine Sardus Pater Carignano del Sulcis Superiore Arruga D.O.C. 2004 (Sardinia, Italy) - [RP 93]
|
Retail Price: $65.00 Artisan Wine Depot Price: $39.99 You save $25.01!
|

|

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Carignano del Sulcis Superiore Arruga flows onto the palate in
stunning style, as layers of dark fruit, flowers, minerals, licorice and
spices blossom. This generous, full-bodied red possesses impressive
length and tons of balance. The wine remains quite primary and is likely
to develop additional complexity in bottle. It is a wonderful effort.
The Arruga is fermented in cement tanks and aged in French oak barrels
for 12 months. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2018.
These are the
first wines I have tasted from Sardus Pater, a cooperative located on
the Sant’Antioco islands, just off the southwest coast of Sardinia. The
winery was founded in 1949 and today counts over 300 members. Consulting
oenologist Riccado Cotarella oversees winemaking. His approach is often
very much felt in the wines, yet I often get a sense that with a
lighter touch in the cellar and a more transparent expression of variety
and terroir these wines might very well reach a higher level. The raw
materials certainly seem to be available, as the estate’s top reds are
made from ancient, pre-phylloxera vineyards. This a beautiful set of
wines from an emerging property readers should keep an eye on."

90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Green-tinged
yellow. Complex nose is a step up in intensity from the I Fiori
bottling, combining white peach, thyme, nut oil and delicate vanilla
spice. Supple, spicy and sweet in the mouth but without the vanilla or
oak spices dominating the pure orchard and tropical fruit flavors. At
once creamy and precise on the finish, with lovely sugar/acid snap and
excellent persistence. I would never have guessed this wine carried 14%
alcohol." -Ian D'Agata (Mar/Apr '11)

90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Light,
bright red. The herbal, floral and fruity nose (red berries, sour red
cherry) strongly reminded me of frappato. Then more red fruits on the
palate, with enticing freshness and a hint of spice. Finishes bright,
long and pure. Excellent." - Ian D'Agata (Mar/Apr '11)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Good bright ruby-red. Balsamic herbs, clove, and chocolate-covered
cherries on the nose. Sweet and supple on entry, then rich and layered
in the middle, with herbal dark cherry and sweet spice flavors given
definition by lively acidity. Finishes long but much too oaky, with a
restrained sweetness; yet another very tannic wine from this producer." - Ian D'Agata (Mar/Apr '11)
