95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2005 Barbaresco Santo Stefano is striking in its beauty. This firm, structured wine bursts from the glass with layers of dark red fruit, spices, flowers and menthol. Medium in body, the wine possesses notable inner beauty in a transparent, almost weightless style. There is superb pedigree here, not to mention tons of class. Once again the Santo Stefano bottling delivers the goods. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2025." - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2008)

91+ Points -
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Good medium red. Black cherry and camphor on the rather Barolo-like nose. Less fruity and more medicinal today, a bit tough in the middle palate. Finishes with serious, slightly drying tannins. In an awkward stage today: will this blossom with bottle age?" -Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Dec '09)

91+ Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Medium red. Very ripe strawberry on the expressive, forward nose. Elegant and penetrating, with very good grip to the cherry and strawberry flavors. Not especially fleshy for the year; in fact, this went into a shell in the glass. Finishes with edgy tannins and lovely lift. This suave wine should harmonize with five or six years of cellaring." -Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Oct '11)

91 Points - Wine Spectator:

"An elegant style, exhibiting rose and white pepper aromas followed by flavors of strawberry, cherry and herb. Balanced on the tannic side, with a firm, dense structure and a lingering finish. Best from 2016 through 2030. 200 cases imported." –BS (May 31, 2013)

"Bright red-ruby. Cassis, black cherry and licorice on the rather medicinal nose. Concentrated and savory; nicely balanced and dry, showing none of the vintage's hot side. Finishes saline and long. A very good showing." - Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Oct '11)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:

"The 2009 Barolo Marcenasco shows sweet fruit flavors of black cherry and cassis set against darker tones of black licorice, tar and cola. Definitely on the “modern” side of the winemaking spectrum, with distant notes of mocha and espresso to fatten up its aromatic bouquet, the wine shows excellent harmony and overall balance. The sweet tannins, and fleshy fruit consistency suggest this wine is almost ready to drink. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022." - Monica Larner (Jun 2013)

Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva "Montefico" D.O.C.G. 2008 (Piedmont, Italy) - [RP 95] [ST 92(+?)] [WS 91]

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2008 Barbaresco Riserva Montefico hits the palate with a blast of fruit intermingled with copious acidity and pure structure. Montefico shares a boundary with Ovello, and shows many of the structural elements typically associated with that side, but with more depth in its fruit, probably because of the southern exposure. The high altitude of these parcels ensures there is plenty of freshness and vibrancy. The Montefico is dazzling, but it will require considerable patience. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2048." -Antonio Galloni (Oct 2012)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar :
"Medium red. Complex aromas of plum, redcurrant, cinnamon and rose petal. Juicy, savory and supple, with a slightly rustic quality to the flavors of red berries, spices and medicinal herbs. Lightish in body but shows good subtle intensity. Finishes with serious but even tannins. Good honest old-school nebbiolo: there's no rush to drink this. " -Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Dec 2013)

Wine Spectator:
"The sour cherry and currant flavors pick up a tobacco and briar edge as this red plays out on the palate. Although well-balanced, this can still shed the dusty tannins. Drink now through 2018." –BS
