Elvio Cogno "Anas Cetta" Langhe Nascetta DOC 2013 (Piedmont, Italy)
Elvio Cogno "Anas Cetta" Langhe Nascetta DOC 2013 (Piedmont, Italy)
Retail Price: $33.00

Anas-Cëtta is a historical wine of the commune of Novello. Since the first limited production run in 1994, working with tenacity and love for the land of the Langhe, the Elvio Cogno winery has used the memories of old-timers in Novello to produce a wine for the youngsters of the third millennium. Mentioned in winemaking documents as early as the second half of the 19th century, this white wine of Mediterranean origin has a sapidity reminiscent of the great hot-clime varietals such as Vermentino (from which, according to some ampelographical studies, it may derive).
Elvio Cogno "Mandorlo" Dolcetto d'Alba DOC 2013 (Piedmont, Italy)
Elvio Cogno "Mandorlo" Dolcetto d'Alba DOC 2013 (Piedmont, Italy)
Retail Price: $25.00

Bright ruby red in colour with deep violet highlights. The perfume is immediate and intense, uncompromisingly vinous and persistent. It is redolent of grape must which, on ageing, develops sensations of red forest fruits. The bouquet is dry and full-bodied, elegant and round, with notes of fruit and a wonderfully almondy finish. Serve with starters, pasta, soups, salamis and cream cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C.

Fresh, lively bouquet, with harmonious tannins and alcohol and balanced acidity. Soft, elegant and full-bodied with a very long aftertaste. Redolent of freshly macerated red berries, raspberry and redcurrant. Goes well with robust roasts and hard, well-aged cheeses.
Serving temperature: 17°C.

"Orange peel, spices, cranberry, flowers and white truffles meld into sage and cinnamon in Cogno's 2010 Barbaresco Bordini. The style is floral, lifted and graceful, with understated structure and lovely overall balance. This is a terrific showing from Cogno. The Bordini is made from purchased fruit and spends about 25 months in Slavonian oak. Wine Tasted: August 2014." - Antonio Galloni (October 2014)

Elvio Cogno Barolo "Cascina Nuova" DOCG 2010 (Piedmont, Italy) - [AG 93] [JS 93] [RP 92]
Retail Price: $50.00

93 Points - Antonio Galloni presents Vinous Media:
"Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red cherries and licorice meld together in the 2010 Barolo Cascina Nuova. Fine and silky through to the finish the 2010 is a great introduction to the vintage. With time in the glass the floral and spice notes become more prominent, adding lift, perfume and finesse. Hints of orange peel, cinnamon and mint add complexity over time. The ripe, sweet tannins give the 2010 gorgeous early accessibility, but it should also age well. The 2010 saw 40 days on the skins followed by years in cask. The Cascina Nuova is a great introduction to the wines of Elvio Cogno, one of Barolo's leading estates." - Antonio Galloni (January 2014)
