Here's a wine from the jet-black volcanic soils of the north slope of Mount Etna in Sicily. It is made from 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio, two indigenous Italian varieties with great complexity. Juicy, with lipsmacking acidity, this dark rose offers essences of blood orange, plums, cherry, and exotic spices. What a terrific barbecue wine for the Northern California summer.

Artisan Wine Depot Price: $35.99

2006 was awarded with the prestigious  “Three Glasses Gambero Rosso” (highest score for an Italian wine)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2007 Harmonium (Nero d’Avola) is a richly-textured offering laced with dark red raspberries, flowers, spices and French oak. The expansive, generous Harmonium delivers gorgeous depth, clarity and persistence on the palate in a full-bodied expression of Nero d’Avola. The French oak could be a little less intrusive, but this is nevertheless a highly successful wine from Firriato. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022." -Antonio Galloni (6/2010)

Intense impact on the nose, with fruity notes typical of Nero d’Avola that then leave space for hints of fresh, aromatic green. Intense and concentrated in the mouth, it has impressive body sustained by a firm tannic fabric and fresh acidity. A satisfying finish. A terrific value. Nero d’Avola pairs beautifully with pasta dishes, pizza, red meat dishes and summertime BBQ.
