92-94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The still unbottled sample of the Garnacha and Cariñena blend 2016 Les Terrasses Velles Vinyes has vibrant acidity in a warm year when ripening stopped as the vines blocked and stopped producing sugar and maintained the acidity. The grapes were small because the year had also been very dry. It's juicy and with good ripeness and some dusty tannins, reminiscent of the dusty roads among the vineyards of Priorat along with that decomposed slate. There will be 116,000 bottles of the 2016." - Luis Gutiérrez (Apr 2018)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The Black Slate series wines are produced by different producers from different villages of Priorat for US importer Eric Solomon, as is the case of the 2015 Black Slate Gratallops from Celler Cecilio. They want to show the character of the Priorat grapes in the different villages. It's a blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah from (guess what?) slate soils that fermented separately with indigenous yeasts and with 20% of the volume being raised in oak barrels for some eight or nine months. I noticed the Syrah here, combined with classical Gratallops sweet Garnacha and a pinch of spices. The palate is medium-bodied, with the fine slate texture, generous, warm and showy, but without excess, with the graphite holding it together. This is a Gratallops Vi de Villa. There are 26,500 bottles produced." - Luis Gutiérrez (28th Oct 2016)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"Rich nose of pure strawberries and red plums with hints of slate and pepper. Full body, round tannins and a pure-strawberry character that comes through on the finish. Fruity and reserved. 85% garnacha and 15% cariñena. Drink now." - Publish Date (December 1, 2016)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"Lots of black-cherry aroma and plenty of wild-herb nuances that transport you to this rugged and remote landscape. Ripe and rich with beautiful integrated, dry tannins that gently build to a climax on the finish. Drink or hold." (Aug 2018)

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Lively and expressive, this red delivers ripe cherry and boysenberry flavors, backed by mountain herb, licorice and mineral notes. The rich texture is balanced by lively acidity and fine-grained tannins. There's plenty of stuffing, but the wine remains graceful and fresh. Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2026. 2,100 cases made." – TM (Apr 30, 2017)

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
Personally, I would trade up to the splendid 2010 La Basseta which is sourced from 100-year-old vines and is a blend of 60% Garnacha, 20% Carinena and 20% Syrah aged for 16 months in French oak. It has a lifted nose of fennel, rosemary, raspberry leaf and crushed stone. The palate is full-bodied with ripe, rounded tannins, a touch of balsamic inflecting the red fruit profile with a floral, almost Cote Rotie-like finish derived from the Syrah. Drink 2016-2025. (April 2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2009 Degustacio 7 is one of the experiments that Jose Lluis Perez carries out (there’s no 2010 version of this wine). This is a relatively young Carinena from the Martinet Bru vineyard. Two 500-liter barrels were fermented and the wine aged in new 300-liter barrels. Number 6 is the same wine but vinified with whole clusters (but we didn’t taste it as there was not a single bottle to be found in the winery!). It has a floral nose and notes of ripe black fruit with some soil notes, pungent acidity and a long aftertaste. This is almost a virtual wine, as only 800 bottles were produced. Drink now-2018." - Luis Gutierrez (Feb 2014)

Alvaro Palacios "Finca Dofi" Priorat 2016 (Priorat, Spain) - [RP 95-97] [JS 95]

95-97 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2014 vintage):
"I also previewed the 2016 Finca Dofí, which has vibrant acidity and more freshness than the 2015. It's a wine that really stands out among the 2016s—explosive and long, with concentration and elegance. This could very well become the finest Dofí to date. They expect to fill some 24,400 bottles." - Luis Gutierrez (Apr 2018)

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2008 DOIX Costers Vinyes Velles reveals a deep purple color with outstanding aromatic complexity. Notes of liquid minerality, licorice, lavender, Asian spices, and black cherry lead to a supple, savory effort loaded with spice and personality. There is a nicely concealed structure that will allow the wine to evolve for several years although it is approachable now. It will be best from 2013 to 2028." - Jay Miller (May 2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 92 Points:
"The 2005 Tradition is a blend of 35% Garnacha, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Carinena, and 10% Syrah. The wine was aged in predominantly French oak for 12 months. Dark crimson-colored, it has an alluring bouquet of wood smoke, slate, cherry, blueberry, and plum. This is followed by a ripe, full-bodied wine with intense, spicy flavors, well-concealed tannins, and a long, pure finish. Although it will evolve for several years, it can be enjoyed now and over the next 10-12 years." -Feb '08
