Beautiful straw colour with hints of pale gold. The nose is subtle and complex, developing aromas of ripe fruit (quince, pear and pineapple) as it is swirled in the glass. In the mouth, after a full-bodied attack, it is rounded and flavourful with a pleasant fruity finish. A wine that will go well with white meats and cheese or as an aperitif.

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2009 Botani was sourced from organically farmed 70-year-old Moscatel de Alejandria vines producing tiny yields. Thirty percent of the wine was barrel-fermented in neutral French oak, the rest in stainless steel. Medium straw-colored with a green tint, it displays a nose of mineral, spring flowers, acacia, and a hint of tropical aromas. The 2009 vintage has produced a wine with extra density and concentration. Although the aromatics suggest sweetness, the wine is dry but very fruity, refreshing, and exceptionally long. It is an outstanding value that over-delivers in a big way." - Jay Miller (Apr 2010)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Gilbert Chon’s 2009 Muscadet de Sevre et Maine Sur Lie Clos de la Chapelle Vieilles Vignes – as has been the case with previous bottlings from him – somewhat suggests Riesling in its evocations of peach, black currant, iris, and lime, which extend not only to a perfumed nose but also to a palate that marries density with levity and delivers a scintillating interplay of fruit, salinity, and seemingly crystalline mineral notes in its long, succulent finish. Intriguing suggestions of shrimp shell reduction, iodine, and meat stock emerge with air. This terrific value is a must-try Muscadet even for someone who doesn’t generally find that the genre hits his or her sweet spot. It should be mouthwatering to follow for at least the next couple of years. (Incidentally, Chon is among the few Loire growers to employ screwcap closure – or at least, for the exported portion of his portfolio.) - David Schildknecht (Aug 2010)

The sandy and garvelly clay soil is perfectly suited to the making of great dry white wine as well. Their Graves Blanc is a blend of 50% Semillon, 48% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle. The wine is vinified at a low temperature in oak and inox tanks. 50% is aged 12 months in oak (never more than 20% new) and 50% is aged in tank. Sauvignon provides fruit, aroma and freshness to the wine, and Semillon imparts roundness and finesse. A touch of Muscadelle adds perfume. This blend is the best expresion of white Graves and helps to achieve blanace between freshness and structure.
