93-96 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Good bright, full red.  Knockout noble nose combines raspberry, blackberry, blood orange, mocha, white pepper, coriander and smoky oak.  Wonderfully silky but youthfully imploded, with compelling verve and sharp definition to the urgent fruit and floral flavors.  A wine of outstanding purity and cut, and very long and precise on the aftertaste.  Hervet referred to this wine as "the king of the cellar in 2010." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan/Feb '12)

90-93 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"An overtly spicy, ripe and rather floral nose as it speaks of both rose petals and violets. There is fine richness to the supple, round and generous medium weight flavors that possess a lovely sense of energy on the balanced and entirely serious finish that delivers excellent length." (Jan 10, 2012)

Domaine Joseph Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru
Domaine Joseph Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Les Porets St.-Georges" 2010 (Burgundy, France) - [BH 89-92] [ST 89-92]

89-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Noticeable reduction renders the nose difficult to evaluate. By contrast there is excellent concentration to the powerful and broad-shouldered medium weight plus flavors that are shaped by very firm and ever-so-mildly rustic tannins on the intensely earthy finish. While this will not win any awards for elegance as Porrets St. Georges is almost always among the most tannic of the Nuits 1ers, it offers plenty of character in a decidedly ageworthy package." (Jan 10, 2012)

91-93 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"This is also quite spicy with ripe and well-layered aromas of red and blue pinot fruit that is satisfyingly fresh. The rich, dense and enveloping flavors possess excellent phenolic maturity as well as outstanding depth and length on the mouth coating finish. Here the tannins are a bit more prominent and will require a few more years of cellar time to resolve." (Jan 10, 2012)

89-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"This is also quite deeply colored. An open nose offers up notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, subtle spice and Nuits style earth hints that also suffuse the delicious, forward and easy-to-like flavors that possess reasonably good length but not quite the same depth as the best of these Nuits 1ers. To be sure, this moderately firm and mildly rustic effort is very good but it's not truly distinguished." (Jan 10, 2012)

Domaine Joseph Faiveley Monthelie Premier Cru

87-90 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A moderately earthy nose also displays hints of stone and underbrush on the ripe dark berry fruit suffused aromas. There is good freshness and vibrancy to the solidly well-detailed middle weight flavors that possess a fine level of dry extract. There is a very subtle touch of austerity to the delicious if mildly rustic finish." (Jan 12, 2012)

89-91 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
Good medium bright red.  Piercing aromas of red fruits, rose petal and citrus zest.  Juicy and penetrating, with terrific clarity and lift to the red fruit and floral flavors.  Finishes long and perfumed, with fine tannins and excellent cut.  Like a little Volnay, and almost too easy to drink.  An outperformer." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan/Feb '12)

Domaine Joseph Faiveley Volnay Premier Cru

92-94 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Bright, full, deep red.  Crushed cherry, raspberry, minerals, cocoa powder and coriander on the vibrant nose.  Sweet, fine-grained and subtly powerful, with terrific inner-mouth perfume and lift.  Wonderfully classy Volnay, finishing bright, suavely tannic and very long.  Consultant Bernard Hervet did a light extraction here, and believes that this cuvee got a bit too much pigeage in 2008." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan/Feb '12)

Domaine Joseph Faiveley Volnay Premier Cru
Domaine Joseph Faiveley Volnay Premier Cru "Fremiets" 2010 (Burgundy, France) - [BH 89-91] [ST 88-91]

89-91 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"This is a classic Volnay with an ultra-elegant and admirably pure nose of red pinot fruit and floral notes that marry into intensely stony, vibrant and utterly delicious flavors that possess a lacy, even slightly creamy texture on the lingering finish. This is certainly attractive though it perhaps doesn't quite have the laser-like delineation that one often experiences with a fine Frémiets. That is a minor nit however and overall this is lovely." (Jan 10, 2012)
