For those who don’t remember, Victory at Sea is a 10% ABV Imperial Porter brewed with cold extracted, freshly brewed coffee, specially roasted for us by our friends at Cafe Calabria. The addition of vanilla adds a layer of complexity and the result is full flavored, rich and delicious. But you will have to judge for yourself.

Imperial Porter is a full bodied, very dark, malty beer with a good
roasted character coming from the Crystal, Chocolate and Black Patent
Malts used in the mash. Warrior, English Fuggles, and East Kent Goldings
Hops balance the malts with a good hop bite. The beer has an OG of
1.070, rounding out after fermentation with just a slight residual
sweetness and cutting dry at the finish. 7.1% alcohol by volume.

"This beer is often credited with reviving the interest in smoked beers in America, and with one sip you’ll understand why. The alder-smoked malts in this opaque, black brew provide intense aromas of campfire with nuances of sweet spice and burnt coffee as well. And the mouth…wow. This is a big beer, with not only a ton of maple-syrup glazed bacon smokiness but also a good dose of astringency to the milky mouth. Charcoal, roasted cocoa nibs, wheat bread and hints of cassis and caramel sauce all integrate beautifully with the smoke. What an excellent example of a properly smoked and balanced brew."
