Our 2011 Estate Chardonnay is medium gold in color, with aromas of lemon oil, apple, and candle wax leading the way. The palate is elegantly structured, with flavors of lime, apple, poached pear, white peach, and a hint of spice from the French oak. The freshness of the fruit keeps things light, while lees contact adds a bit more palate-weight.

In 2009, we were able to achieve perfect ripeness, which resulted in a classically styled Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark purple to the rim, this wine looks like it means business from the moment you pour it into the glass. Immediately, you are overwhelmed by aromas of crème de cassis, sweet cherries, coco powder and bay leaf. Perfectly ripened fruit glides effortlessly across the mid-pallet with a firm but lush acidic profile. Boysenberry, dark plum and a mineralty typical for this vineyard site are intermixed with exotic oak overtones of clove and mulled spice. Lovely, dusty tannins frame the ripeness into a long finish accented with blue fruits and oak so well integrated that it must be tasted to be believed.

Wine Enthusiast:
"A very nice wine, showcasing the Napa style of lush, plush opulence. It’s softly tannic, with ripe blackberry, raspberry, mocha and cedar flavors. Not an ager—drink by 2015." -S.H. (12/31/13)

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (Vintage 2010):
Shows good tension between the tight, vibrant blueberry and blackberry notes, with firm tannins showing a loamy earth and roasted herb edge. This fans out nicely on the finish. Drink now through 2022. 16,293 cases made." –JL (Sep 30, 2013)

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Slightly more firm and angular (which is common for this vineyard), the 2011 Syrah Garys’ Vineyard (100% Syrah, 50% whole cluster), which was harvest early in November, exhibits classic Garys’ notes of coffee bean, black fruits, green olives and wild herbs on the nose and palate. Medium to full-bodied, rich and textured, it should benefit from another year of bottle age and drink nicely for upwards of a decade. Drink 2014-2021." -Jeb Dunnuck (Aug 2013)

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"My favorite of the Syrahs and the most voluptuous and supple, yet with solid mid-palate depth and structure, the 2011 Syrah Susan’s Hill comes from a small block of windswept vines located high up on the Pisoni Vineyard. Loaded with minerality, chalk, wild herbs and decadent blackberry fruit, this seamless Syrah will dish out loads of pleasure over the coming 7-8 years. Drink now-2021." -Jeb Dunnuck (Aug 2013)

About this wine:
Nestled in the rolling hills of Napa Valley’s remote eastern slopes, Hestan Vineyards is a 56-acre tapestry of small, individually farmed blocks planted to the five principal red Bordeaux varietals. The winery’s Stephanie Cabernet, named for the owner’s daughter – a concert harpist – is the virtuoso expression of the site’s varietal composition. Each year, Stephanie winemaker Jeff Gaffner selects his favorite, most age-worthy lots for our Premiere Napa Valley offering. This particular Cabernet Sauvignon blend was co-fermented to take advantage of peak ripeness and maximize complexity. Living up to its name, “Bravura” sings with incredibly bold dark berry notes and chalky tannins that will only gain in harmony, depth and elegance with still another 12 months in French oak barrels.

"Pale pink. Energetic strawberry and cherry aromas are complicated by white pepper and rose oil. The palate offers tangy red berry and orange pith flavors, plus a subtle honeysuckle nuance in the background. Finishes with good energy and clarity, the strawberry note echoing. This fruit-driven rose is carrying 14% alcohol but doesn't show a trace of warmth." -Josh Raynolds (Nov/Dec 13)
