This elegant 2006 Clark-Claudon Estate Cabernet takes its place among a string of beautiful, low production artisan wines.  It greets with a deep purple color & layered aromas of ripe plums, sweet cherries, wild black berries & cedar with hints of roasted almonds & vanilla. In the mouth the wine is velvety & soft while fresh & beautifully balanced with a fine structure & well integrated tannins. Layers of flavors unwind revealing ripe black varietal fruit with hints of crushed stones, roasted coffee and sweet oak.  The finish is long with hints of asian spice, minerality, dark cigar box & chocolate.  The bright aromas & velvety smoothness encourages this wine to be drunk now, while the beautiful structure assures that it can age for a long, long time.

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
The 2008 Clio is made up of 70% old vine Monastrell sourced from a vineyard planted in 1944 and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard planted in 1979. The alcoholic fermentation is in oak followed by malolactic fermentation in new barrels and aging for 24 months in new French and American oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it exhibits an expressive nose of pain grille, underbrush, brier, mineral, blueberry, and blackberry fruit leading to a plush, opulent wine with great density, savory flavors, and a lengthy finish. In spite of its size, it is surprisingly light on its feet and can be approached now. However, it will evolve for 3-4 years and offer prime drinking from 2014 to 2023.

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"There are no doubts about the 2007 Cheval des Andes, always a candidate for wine of the vintage. Composed of 60% Malbec, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance Merlot and Petit Verdot, it spent 18 months in new French oak. This leads to an enthralling nose of sandalwood, floral notes, exotic spices, a velvety texture, complex flavors, and an overall suave personality in the manner of a First Growth Bordeaux. It gracefully combines elegance and power in a wine that will continue to evolve for another 6-8 years. It will see its 20th birthday and likely many more in peak form." - Jay Miller (Dec 2011)

"The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is dark ruby red with aromas of toast, cinnamon, clove, a hint of balsamic, cassis, and black currant. On the palate it displays a racy personality with lively acidity and a bit of underlying tannin. This savory effort can be approached now, although it is likely to blossom for another 1-2 years." - Jay Miller (Dec 2010)

96 Points & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"A huge Cabernet, in the best sense of the word. It wasn’t the easiest vintage, as 2007 was, but meticulous winemaking did the job, resulting in this amazingly rich, impressively ripe wine that’s drinkable now and will develop for many years. The fruits veer toward blackberries, cherries and cola, and the tannins are soft and refined. One hundred percent new French oak isn’t at all heavy, lending nuances of buttered toast and sweet wood tannins. Will easily age for 15 years. Cellar Selection." —S.H. (Feb 2012)

92 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2007 Vintage):
"Inky ruby color. Brooding aromas of cherry-cola, licorice, smoky Indian spices and cured tobacco. Deeply concentrated dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are sweetened by notes of vanilla and licorice pastille, and are complemented by a mounting spiciness and an exotic floral quality. More tannic on the finish, which is refreshingly bitter and strongly repeats the spice and cola notes. I'd lose this in the cellar for at least another five years." - Josh Raynolds (Sep/Oct '09)
