Full and pleasing, with miles of red fruit and a very spicy middle. “Dionysos” is worthy of the highest praise and devotion, a red blend that will inspire wild revelry twice over—once for its persistent, juicy flavor and twice for its amazing value. Domaine Pouizin-Vacheron
Domaine Pouizin-Vacheron "le Clos du Caillou" Cotes du Rhone [Grenache] Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Unique 2007 (Cotes du Rhone Villages, France)
Retail Price: $25.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $17.99
You Save $7.01

A bouquet of purple flowers and candied licorice mixes with notes of kirsch and baking spices on the expressive nose, a delightful signature of this outstanding vintage. Sexy and supple suggestions of dark chocolate and black/red fruits flood the palate; there’s a rich, textured quality to the wine that fills the mouth with a sensation of silk—reminiscent of the estate’s top “Reserve” cru. Structured but not too muscled; layered and lively on the tongue. One of our best selections yet! A blend of 80% Grenache, 13% Syrah and 7% Mourvèdre, pulled from Caillou's rustic walled vineyards—if you take a look at the appellation map, there's no doubt that this luscious Côtes du Rhône is really a Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Lucia
Lucia (Pisoni) "Garys' Vineyard" Syrah 2007 (Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey County, California) - Robert Parker [95 pts]
Retail Price: $40.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $38.99
You Save $1.01

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The dense purple-colored 2007 Syrah Garys’ Vineyard exhibits a gorgeous perfume of boysenberries, blueberries, blackberries, charcoal, camphor, and spring flowers. It reveals full-bodied power along with great elegance and freshness, good acidity, and super-rich fruit that is neither heavy nor overbearing. While it will not last as long as a great French Hermitage or Cote Rotie, it will offer sensational drinking over the next decade." - Robert Parker (8/2009)

Lucia
Lucia (Pisoni) "Susan's Hill" Syrah 2007 (Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey County, California)
Retail Price: $40.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $38.99
You Save $1.01

Susan’s Hill Syrah is dark and opaque. The inky purple hue is followed by the bold aromatics of ripe plums, blueberries, kalamata olives, gamey notes, and a touch of oak spice. The palate is very dense, yet the tannins are fine and gentler than one would expect. This youthful wine will benefit from at least an hour in the decanter. A clear mark of the vintage, the wine has higher acid than normal: a necessary component to balance the weight of this 2007 Syrah.

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ('06 vintage)
Domaine La Bouissiere Gigondas [Rhone Blend] 2007 (Gigondas, Southern Rhone, France) - Stephen Tanzer [91]
Retail Price: $40.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $33.99
You Save $6.01

91 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Bright ruby. Dark berries and kirsch on the nose, with hints of smoky minerals and garrigue adding complexity. Sweet dark berry flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and pick up notes of candied flowers and cola on the back half. Smoothly blends depth and energy, with good mineral snap to penetrating cherry and cassis flavors on the long, spicy finish." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan/Feb 2010)

Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (Franschhoek, South Africa)
Retail Price: $50.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $46.99
You Save $3.01

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine ('06 vintage):
"Rich and muscular, but with plenty of precision to the cedar, espresso, macerated currant, tobacco and loam notes. The long, dense finish lets the fruit and grip hang together nicely. Built for the cellar. Best from 2010 through 2013. 1,420 cases made." –JM (6/31/2009)
Alban Vineyards
Alban Vineyards "Patrina" Alban Estate Syrah 2008 (Edna Valley, Central Coast, California)
Retail Price: $50.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $47.99
You Save $2.01

In order to assure a more reliable source for high quality Syrah, Alban
Vineyards discontinued purchasing grapes for the Central Coast Syrah
and developed its own vineyards. Patrina is a gypsy word for leaf and
grass blades. By mounding up patrin (leaves) in specific configurations
called Patrina, Gypsies mark secret trails that fellow clan members
could follow to special gathering places. Alban Vineyards is a
patchwork of isolated soil types that you may recognize as Reva,
Lorraine, Seymour's and Pandora. Between and in route to these well
healed sites are vineyards that are not so obviously distinct. Patrina
is a blend of these disparate and "disenfranchised' blocks into a
single wine...like the gypsy trains from which Patrina derives its name.
Justin Vineyards "Savant" Proprietary Red 2007 (Paso Robles, California) - Wine Enthusiast [91 pts]
Retail Price: $45.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $35.99
You Save $9.01

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and a drop of Malbec, presumably for color and body, represents a big step forward for Justin. It has the structure and impressive dryness of a fine wine, with pure, deep flavors of black currants and cedar. Delicious and elegant, it should hold in the bottle for 3–5 years." - S.H. (3/1/2010)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Bright ruby. Exotic aromas of cherry pie, incense, bacon fat and violet. Modestly concentrated but fresh and focused, with red berry, cherry, mineral and candied flower flavors and good back-end cut. Finishes on a tangy note, with a hint of smoky minerals." - Josh Raynolds (Jan/Feb 2010)
