Rockpile Winery (Mauritson) "Cemetery Vineyard" Zinfandel 2007 (Healdsburg, Sonoma County, California)
Retail Price: $39.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $36.99

The growing conditions of the 2007 vintage were ideal: warmer average daily temperatures, low crop yields, smaller berry size, and ample hang time. The resulting grapes were perfectly ripe, yet still yielded amazing complexity and tannin. Cobbler black fruit in the nose is graciously accented by hints of oak and spice. Concentrated and commanding in the front palate, the supple tannins of the 2007 are evident in the mid-palate and finish. The ripe blackberry flavors linger before the black pepper spice of this vineyard shows itself. While more approachable young than previous vintages, this wine will continue to age beautifully for the next 5-7 years.

Broc Cellars "Vine Starr" California Red [Zinfandel Blend] 2008 (California)
Retail Price: $35.00
Artisan Wine Depot Price: $19.99
You Save $15.01

Made from a blend of: 62% Zinfandel, 25% Syrah, 8% Petite Syrah, 5% Graciano. Total production of 284 cases.

This is the second vintage of our proprietary red blend, Vine Starr. Vine Starr Brockway was born in 1801 and was the great-great-great-great-great-great grand uncle of Chris Brockway the winemaker. When we saw his name we thought that it couldn’t be more appropriate. The blend is based on the spicy zinfandel fruit of Arrowhead Mountain Vineyard, it is rounded out with the minerality and depth of Syrah, the Petite Sirah adds velvety tannins, and color, and the Graciano lends to the perfumed base. This wine is balanced and food friendly and very much enjoyable on its own as well.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 90 Points:
"The 2007 Zinfandel Mendocino is a super-generic cuvee boasting a deep ruby hue as well as a stunning nose of sweet, briery black cherries, black currants, spice, and an underlying floral character. Abundant flavor, medium to full body, impressive purity, and fine elegance suggest this delicious Zinfandel should drink well for 2-3 years. "
