"A delightful wine, one of Justin’s best in quite some time. The blend is Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, and fruit is the star, in the form of ripe, lush blackberries and currants. You’ll also find complex notes of grilled meats, chocolate, herbs and spices, wrapped into a perfectly soft, delectable texture. Drink now–2015." — S.H. (4/1/2012)

"This is so smooth, rich and mellow, you hardly notice how intense the tannins are. But they are hard, and lock down the flavors of black currant and black licorice, plus the complex notes of minerals, roasted game and dark spices. Drink this Malbec-based blend now after decanting and over the next six years."  (3/1/2013)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2011 Recuerdo Malbec has a bouquet similar to the 2010, but with more intensity and density: rounded raspberry and pomegranate aromas laced with honey and a touch of fresh mango, an exotic nose that is difficult to resist. The palate is medium-bodied with good density on the entry. It is well-balanced with gentle grip. It has a more red fruit profile compared to black fruit exhibited by the 2010, with a dash of white pepper sprinkled on the finish.

Some of my Twitterati may recall my 140-syllable praise of the Recuerdo Malbec earlier this year. “Vines of Mendoza” is an interesting project whereby private investors can own the produce of their own wine, mainly but not exclusively in the Uco Valley, with no less than Santiago Achaval to oversee the vineyard and vinification. I asked Santiago how much time he can devote to the project, and he replied that he is at the winery once every two weeks during the growing season and more often during the harvest. There are 107 three to ten-acre parcels, some of which are bottled individually and others that are blended to create the Recuerdo line." -Neal Martin (Oct 2012)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2010 Quimera is a blend of 27% Malbec and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon alongside Petit Verdot and Merlot, raised in 40% French new oak for 14 months, the remainder one year old. It has a complex, almost “mulchy” bouquet: one that evokes undergrowth and tertiary aromas that are well-defined and cerebral. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, slightly chewy tannins surrounding a core of blackberry laced with licorice and a hint of star anise. The finish is focused and taut, bestowed with an extremely fresh citric finish. Old World meets New – with style. Drink 2014-2022." - Neal Martin (Oct 2012)

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The vines in Finca Mirador were planted half in 1928 and half in 1942, the latter pruned double-Guyot. The 2010 Finca Mirador is from the Medrano sub-region, originating from heavier, clayey soils and aged in new French barrels for 16 months. The nose is more expressive than the Finca Bella Vista with cassis and blueberry aromas imbued with a sorbet like freshness and vivacity. After 20 minutes, there is an estuarine, oyster shell scent emerging. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and a surprising sense of reserve and sophistication that could probably show Bordeaux a few lessons in restraint! It draws you in to its complexity and its precise, delineated finish of black currant pastille, sea salt and crushed stone that lingers long in the mouth. This is an outstanding Argentinean Malbec. Drink 2016-2035." - Neal Martin (Oct 2012)

"This muscular red features dark layers of blackberry, cassis and plum skin notes backed by juicy acidity. Fine-tuned, with a creamy edge and a long aftertaste of wildflowers, baking spices and mineral. Decant or cellar in the short-term. Drink now through 2020. 800 cases imported." –NW (Oct 15, 2012)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2010 Catena Malbec is also a blend of four vineyards in Lunlunta, Agrelo, Altamira and Gualtallary at different altitudes and includes some whole cluster fermentation (about 20% of the blend.) It has a pellucid bouquet with tangible minerality: notes of blackberry, strawberry cheesecake, a touch of cassis and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry. The acidity is crisp and lends tautness towards the succulent finish, which bestows blackberry, black olive and loganberry fruit. This is a finely crafted, feminine Malbec. Drink now-2018." –Neal Martin (Oct 2012)

The core is black, with a saturated magenta hue on the rim. The nose opens with aromas of crushed blackberries, plum skin and black currants enveloped in cedar notes. The bright, seductively textured palate suggests boysenberries, cola, plum and notes of smoky oolong tea. The complex, persistent finish brings mocha, black cherry and cola.
