Notes from the Winemaker:

We are pleased to announce the release of our 2007 A by Acacia Red Blend. This Syrah based Rhône-style blend is well-balanced and layered with aromas of rich dark cherry, plum and raspberry. Deep, fruit flavors of cherry and ripe plum are framed by velvety tannins. Grenache adds a hint of soft, bright red raspberries and Mouvèdre infuses the blend with spice and a bit of mocha. A splash of Viognier lifts the aromas and completes this richly textured blend. In the summer, pair our Red Blend with smoky grilled steaks, sausages or hamburgers on the barbecue. In the winter, it tastes rich and spicy with comfort foods, such as lamb stew or pasta with hearty sauces. Enjoy it with pizza, anytime!

California is a land of awesome beauty and diversity and its geography allows for a variety of wine flavors and styles. When we first set out to make A by Acacia wines, we searched for the best and most representative Pinot Noir and Chardonnay regions around the state. That commitment continues to today with the launch of our first Rhône-style Red Blend.

ABOUT THE VINTAGE
There’s one word to describe California’s 2007 vintage—spectacular! 2007 began with lower-than-average winter rainfall and a warm spring that encouraged early budbreak. Moderate temperatures prevailed throughout the growing season for even ripening and development of good sugar-to-acid ratios. These conditions also fostered small, concentrated grapes that gave vibrant flavors and fine tannins to our Syrah. Overall, grape quality was high with ripe, lush flavors balanced with lively acidity.
