Antiqv2s is derived from the Latin word Antiquus, signifying something that happened or existed in former times; ancient or old; associated with, or bearing the marks of the times of long ago. Syrah is believed to have been introduced into the Rhone Valley of France by Crusaders on their return from Ancient Persiam or by the Roman legions of Emperor Probus from Syracuse in Sicily.

299 cases of Syrah from the harvest of 2006 Anno Domini were produced from the Susan's Hill block of Gary Pisoni's vineyard that lies on the southern foothills of the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate's review on the 2004 vintage:
"This is a structured Syrah with impressively saturated deep ruby/purple colors, firm but moderately high tannin, medium to full body, and abundant fruit, density, and extract. It is obviously built for aging. The Pisoni Vineyard displays more mineral, earthy, and Provencal herb-like notes than the Gary’s Vineyard. It is an outstanding, still youthful, restrained Syrah that begs for 1-2 years of bottle age. It should drink well for a decade." -Robert Parker, August 2006
