Notes from the Winemaker:
The Monastrell (aka Mourvedre), a native variety, requires a lot of sunshine to ripen properly and is quite drought resistant. It is therefore perfectly suited to Yecla where it is endowed with aromas of pleasant ripe fruit, akin to confiture.
Syrah (aka Shiraz) is a noble grape variety that is well adapted to areas within the sphere of Mediterranean Spain's climactic influence, allowing its deep, dark, dense qualities and raspberry, black pepper, and licorice aromas to flourish.
This blend delivers a one two punch with the deep flavors and complex aromatics.
Acclaim:
Robert Parker - 90 Points"The 2007 Nabuko is a blend of 50% Monastrell and 50% Syrah aged for three months in French oak. Purple-colored, the aromatics feature fragrant blueberries and blackberry. This is followed by a chewy, layered wine with spicy blue and black fruits and mineral notes making an appearance. Long and rich, this tasty, balanced effort can be enjoyed over the next 4-5 years." -Robert Parker, August 2008
