About This Wine:

The owner and winemaker is Rodrigo Manuel Romero. 2004 was the first vintage for this winery. Total current production: 4,200 cases. The label represents both grandparents of the winemaker. The rose on the label signifies the first new rose of each season--every year his grandfather Isaias would watch for the first rose to give to his wife, Juana.

100% Bonarda.

What Does It Taste Like?

Deep red purple color with black hues. Raspberry, cherry, blackberry aromas and notes of vanilla and tobacco. Ample in the mouth, great structure, full flavored, well integrated tannins and a persistent finish. Pairs well with grilled meats, pastas, vegetables, hard cheeses.

Ratings & Reviews

Focus on Argentina
By Stephen Tanzer of International Wine Cellar

"My tastings of new releases from Argentina turned up a higher percentage of well-made wines than ever before, thanks in part to an extended run of very good to excellent vintages. My annual coverage features a generous selection of stunning values in the under-$20 range, as well as a growing number of world-class higher-priced items. In addition to malbec, cabernet sauvignon and torrontes stood out in my tastings this year."

A big red, in flavor and terroir, not tannin. February 17, 2012
Reviewer: Neil Mitchell from Sunnyvale, CA United States
This is my first Bonarda.

Everything about this wine is masculine and dark.

On the nose it's spicy, mineral, rock, and black cherry skin.
I would be interested to find out about the barrels used.
I'm going to guess, older barrels were used.

Taste, I'm going with Tobacco, leather, black cherry... And then something in the realm of stems & barrel... With a long finish. The cherry/fruit appears and reappears in different forms at different times.

This is definitely an Argentinian Bonarda, not a California Charbono.
