About This Wine:

This blend of 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Sangiovese is a smooth, full-bodied cru wine made in an innovative ripasso style. After the harvest, the grapes from the Palazzo della Torre vineyard follow two different paths: 70% of the grapes are vinified immediately, while the remaining 30% are left to dry until the end of December. The fresh wine made at harvest is blended with the fermenting juice of the dried grapes. This initiates a second fermentation and renders a more highly concentrated and complex wine. Allegrini affectionately refers to Palazzo della Torre as its “baby Amarone.”

Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby red in color, this wine is brimming with notes of dark, dried cherries, blackberries, and hints of dates.

Food Pairing:
Pair this wine with full-flavored pasta and risotto dishes, poultry, and chorizo.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2010 Palazzo della Torre is 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese that is air-dried until December after the harvest. That brief appassimento has shaped a delicious wine with loads of cherry and dark spice. It’s a great value with the depth of concentration and length that would match a wine double this price. Drink 2013-2018.

The Allegrini family is one of the strongest pillars supporting the centuries-old winemaking traditions of the Valpolicella and the veritable renaissance those traditions are experiencing today. Until recently, winemaker Franco Allegrini was the driving force at the estate, but today his lovely sister Marilisa has become the face of the brand. Thanks to her tireless, globe-trotting promotional efforts, I’d definitely put Marilisa on a list of the top five ambassadors of Valpolicella." - Monica Larner (Oct 2013)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:

"Made from 30% dried grapes in the Amarone method, this delicious wine is loaded with mouthwatering black cherry, carob and fig flavors, with touches of mocha and nutmeg. It’s silky smooth, with polished tannins, fresh acidity and depth that offers effortless drinkability and pleasure. — K.O. (11/1/2013)

Wine Spectator Magazine:
"
A subtle, balanced version, with quiet accents of graphite and espresso mixing with the delicate black cherry, dried mint and smoky mineral notes. Shows light grip on the finish. Drink now through 2016. 18,300 cases made." –AN (Web Only, 2013)
