Similar to Pinot Noir or Nebbiolo, it has deep, heady aromas of bright red berries underscored by spicy licorice notes. The palate is full and round, displaying flavors of cherry, raspberry and dried herb that lead to a persistent finish.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - James Suckling:
"This shows crazy aromas of blueberry, jasmine, elderberries, minerals and nutmeg. Medium-bodied with lots of crunchy black fruit, zesty acidity, fine, lithe tannins and a fruity finish. Drink now." - (20 Oct, 2017)

91 Points - Vinous:
"Good full red. Flinty aromas and flavors of raspberry, licorice and violet. Fleshy, sweet and pliant, offering good energy and balance to the dark fruit; subtle earthy notes add complexity. The vibrant finish showcases broad, dusty tannins and nice length. It says something about Etna’s amazing potential that Cusumano has only recently started making wines there, yet these are already the best wines in their portfolio."- Ian D'Agata (Dec 2016)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Baking spice and red-berry aromas follow over to the linear palate along with licorice and other oak-driven spices. Refined tannins provide polished support. Kerin O’Keefe" - (2/1/2018)

89 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A balanced red, medium-bodied and chewy, with crushed cherry and raspberry fruit underscored by smoke, dried herb and licorice accents. Fresh finish. Nerello Mascalese. Drink now through 2022. 250 cases made." - AN (Issue Web Only - 2017)
