Ratings & Reviews

96 Points - James Suckling:
"The crystal-clear nose of jasmine, slate, quartz, wild strawberries, blueberries and tons of orange rind, not to mention chocolate shavings and walnuts, is stunning. The full-bodied palate is expansive and fruit-forward yet so minerally and uplifted by a fresh line of acidity that culminates in a long finish. Tight and refined in terms of tannin texture. So good now but better in 2019." - (20 Oct, 2017)

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2014 Etna Rosso Guardiola is also 100% Nerello Mascalese yet was brought up in barrels. Slightly deeper in color than the base Etna Rosso, it has a gorgeous bouquet of black cherries, currants, dried earth, licorice and a hint of chocolate. Deep, medium-bodied, beautifully concentrated, yet also light and graceful, with impeccable balance and fine tannin, it should keep for 10-15 years." - Jeb Dunnuck (3/12/2018)

92 Points - Vinous:
"Moderately saturated red. Spicy plum, red cherry, minerals and violet aromas have an almost pungent quality. Smooth but not especially fleshy, with high acidity initially pinning down the red fruit, mineral and earthy elements. Expands nicely with aeration, and finishes with noble tannins and high-pitched floral and stony nuances. Ought to prove ageworthy." Ian D'Agata - (Dec 2016)

89 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Open-knit and creamy, this balanced red offer light, fine tannins, with a hint of smoky mineral underscoring ripe wild strawberry, ground pink peppercorn and citrus peel flavors. Nerello Mascalese. Drink now through 2022. 885 cases made." - AN (Issue Web Only - 2017)
