Winery Notes:
Bright violet color. spicy and mineral aromas blackberries give a living character. Firm and juicy, provides high concentration of black currant and cherry flavors spicy. It ends with a spicy note, with firm tannins and good persistence. There is a strong structure and concentration to this wine.

The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks. It is transferred to barrels 100% French oak 3 and 4 years (70% and 30% Bordeaux Burgundy) for malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for nine months before bottling in July.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Bright violet color. Vibrant black and blue fruit and violet pastille scents are complicated by licorice and smoky minerals. Juicy, focused and emphatically spicy on the palate, offering bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors and a touch of spicecake. Closes minerally and very long, with silky tannins building slowly and adding gentle grip. This fresh, nervy wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in used French oak barrels for ten months." - Josh Raynolds (Jan 2016)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Another estate of Jorge Ordoñez is in Bierzo. The 2014 Triton Mencia is made 100% of that indigenous grape grown in Spain. It has a Loire-like Cabernet Franc character with red currants, raspberries and a touch of blue fruits that are present in this medium-bodied, elegant, dark ruby-colored wine that is aged in one- to three-year-old Burgundy and Bordeaux barrels for ten months prior to bottling. This is a delicious, lighter-styled wine for immediate consumption. Consume it over the next year." - RP (Nov 19th, 2015)

Wine Spectator:
"Black cherry, cola and espresso flavors mingle in this round red, which has light tannins and balsamic acidity, with a gentle texture that yields to a savory finish. Drink now. 1,000 cases made." - TM (2016)
